This issue may get resolved by pressing the Reset button on the Camcorder. If the issue is not resolved, try a manual resetting procedure.
Please turn off the Camcorder and remove the battery pack. Then move the 'Power Switch' of the Camcorder to the ON position for 1 minute. After about 1 minute, move the 'Power Switch' to the OFF position.
Now reinsert the battery, turn on the Camcorder and check whether it is working fine.
If the issue persists, then it seems that there is an internal malfunction of the Camcorder.
The TO SERVICE message also indicates the malfunction in the Camcorder which can only be resolved with the help of a service technician.
Trying these steps should resolve the issue.
Thanks for contacting FixYa.
Possible that there is fault in the processor / controller section , It can be relative to the servo section where the drives can fail and so on start up will give error message to the processor to request for service action.
it is important that you are well equipped to look into this matter as the use of testing equipments , jigs and soldering stations are important.
I request that you consult with Pansonic service to estimate the cost before proceeding.
Hi kafiye_tr55,
Please make sure that you keep your camera switch on for at least half and hour before you press the reset button.
If that does not work , you need to find a battery which is small is size and located either near the LCD or near the main battery compartment which is called as a CMOS battery and usually it's removed to reset the factory settings to it's default.
If you are able to find that battery , please remove it along with the main battery and after 12 hours put it back again so that it works fine.
Also if this does not work then try upgrading the firmware , of this camcorder, however a firmware upgrade will not help if there is a physical damage to any chip inside or a chip is malfunctioning , so the last option would be to get it repaired via the service center.
However I am pretty sure that the battery tricks i have mentioned above will work.
Hope this helps ...:)

Are you sure there is another battery? I looked near the LCD and there is a slot for the memory card. There is a little concealed compartment but when I opened it there was only chip like things in there that cannot be removed - no battery in sight. The reset did not work :(
A message on the screen reading " please re-operate after pressing reset button" came up. I pressed reset and now I have a message "To service" on the screen. Thank you in advance for your assistance. Kafiye
Thank you. I think I will take it to a professional. Better safe than sorry :)
