I dont know which model you have. My sons 94 caprice classic fully loaded he got used at an auction. Didnt know it at the time but it was one a cop car. Look on the front of engine under the crank case there should be something called an optispark on it. It has four wires coming out of either side and they run back to your plugs. Thats what was happening to my sons
Some times the selector on top get gummed up with dust, it just needs cleaning. You were right to put it into 1st gear to remove the chuck with a big allen key, you get more resistance in the gears.
I'm not sure about power craft tools, but chucks are either screwed on or have a taper pressed fit.
If it's screwed onto the shaft, there are some tricks to getting the chuck off. (Chucks have normal threads, the retaining screw is reversed threads.) 1. Check for a flat spot on the spindle behind the chuck. If there is one you can clamp down the chuck in a vice and use a wrench to spin off the shaft. 2. Clamp down the chuck onto something and connect it to an impact wrench and try to spin off. 3. (BE CAREFUL) Clamp down on the chuck with a vice and spin the motor in reverse to try and pop it off. (Again be careful.) 4. Take it to any tool repair shop and ask them to take it off. (It's a common request.)
If it's a tapered chuck (usually on drill presses or large chucks) you can clamp something into the jaws of the chuck and hammer away from the drill. Remember to keep it steady while hammering because it probably won't come off if you're just holding in your hand. You need a strong jolt to pop it off the taper.
If it's locked up that tight the only thing you can do is turn the key as hard as you can until it either breaks free and works or just plain breaks. If it breaks free, spray a bunch of WD40 or like lubricant up into it, cycle the chuck to full open and full closed a few times to let it soak in then blow it out. If it's working freely throughout the travel and not sticking it should be OK. If it broke while trying to open, sticks while cycling it or just plain won't open, replace it. You need part number 1310049 from Delta to replace it (shop the internet for one). The chuck is just pressed on to the tapered spindle so you have to extend the spindle all the way down and hit the top of chuck, sometimes hard depending on how long it's been on there.
They are more than likely in the wrong slots. The first two slots to the right are the fourth and third controlers. Simply alternate the slots for a working of the pad. Also as a reminder, try not leaving the "nun-chuck" in the Wii remote, while playing.
