Water won't shut off on fill - Maytag PAV2300 Top Load Washer

I think the control board is at fault

It can be due to a faulty water level sensor which evidently is a pressure switch. If the diaphragm is damaged it will require a larger water level to achieve the said pressure to shut the inlet valve in all the cycles.

There should be a float or electronic water level sensor that will tell the water to shut off, if it has calcium from the water on it or the float is damaged it will keep sending water until manually shut off(pull the plug). I would look for a water level sensor of some sort and clean or replace it. If that doesn't work it could be a sticking water fill solonoid which you should then replace

When the Dishwasher won't fill you'll need to check for the water inlet hose, the water inlet valve and the float switch assembly. When the water fills your dishwasher, a float rises along with it. As the float reaches a certain threshold level, it shuts off the flow of water, thereby preventing a leak. Sometimes the float can get stuck in the wrong position in your dishwasher, and it can prevent your dishwasher from filling. Sometimes it can happen due to float valve and on other occasions due to float switch. Inspect the water hose coming to the dishwasher for any blockages. If the hose is not clogged then check the water inlet valve for any clogs, if the water will not even fill for few seconds then certainly the water inlet valve is bad and should be replaced. You can also use a multimeter to check continuity on inlet valve. If you don't get any value on the multimeter then you'll need to replace the water inlet valve assembly. FE error means that the water is filling past it's set point. You may have a broken water valve that won't shut off when it's in the filling mode. You can check by running the washer and watching the water fill. If the water level fills above the bottom of the glass, you have a water valve that's not shutting off. Replace the water valve.

Sounds like the fill switch needs to be replaced. A good way to test it is to set your machine on low fill and see if it fills past 3/4. If it does, it's the fill switch.
