By lock I assume you mean secure it.
To do so do the following -Plug an Ethernet cable from your computer into one of the ports on the back (not the one labeld WAN) -Verify your default gateway. Open a command prompt by click "start" > run or "windows" button, and type cmd -type ipconfig and remeber the default gateway should be like 192.168.0.1 -open a web browser and enter that number into the address bar -you will be prompted for a user and password. (should be either admin, no password or admin/admin) -Go to the wireless > wireless security tab Select your security Choose WPA2 with PSK - create a strong password alphanumeric - Save and you are now "locked" You will then need to go into Network Connections/Network and Sharing and enter the password you created.

A recent firmware update has changed the user to"blank" and password of admin, If the router was setup at one point and you need to reset it locate the button (it's in a hole) you will need a paper clip. Press it for about 10 seconds this will reset the user and password to the default

How do i complete the transfer of network settings(BELOW ARE THE TWO PC'S). . .FROM": **tower running xp professional (wired) to **notebook which is wirless...

Click Start
Click All Programs
Click Accessories
Click System Tools
Click Files and Settings Transfer Wizard
Use the Wizard, but "de-select" most of the settings, so that _only_ the "network settings" are saved.
Tell the Wizard to write one file to a USB memory-stick.
Move the memory-stick to the new computer.
Run the Wizard again, telling it to "import" the settings from the memory-stick.

I dont know the network key to put into the computer for the wireless router so I can get online

If the wireless router is administered by your school or your employer, ask them for the password.

If you own the wireless router, then the password is whatever you set it to be, when you first installed & configured the wireless settings inside the router. If you make a "wired" connection from your computer to your router, you can login and rerun the "wireless settings setup wizard", to reconfigure the router.

My router is visible to all within my residence. How can I make it private again?

Rerun the "router configuration wizard", and either put a password onto the router (so that only those who know the password can connect) or tell the router to *NOT* "broadcast" the SSID of your network.

Where is the wep key located on my virgin router

Connect your desktop computer to your Belkin router, and access the router's built-in web-server software. Then, run the "Wireless Network Setup Wizard", to configure the router's wireless networking capabilities. As part of that process, you will be required to _create_ a "WEP-key" value. Use that value when configuring the wireless capability of your PS3.

Netgear DG834G v3 Installation

connect the yellow (or blue?) ethernet cable to your computer, this should connect to the router (router should be ON)

Now, in internet explorer type 192.168.0.1 (this should be the defualt gateway for the router on default settings.

Now you're into the router, there should be a setup wizard button in there.

See if you can set it up using that

Tony
