That often happens as a result of a short on this model. Try emailing them at this site: www.camerasandparts.com They service the Canon Powershot cameras exclusively and they do excellent work, all for about half of what Canon wants. If you need help with it, that site is the place for a Powershot. They are excellent, send them an email and I'm sure they can help you with this problem. Good luck.

You are aware (aren't you) that the G7 cannot use the new 4GB or higher SDHC cards? It was designed before these came out (that's why that 8GB keeps failing). You can only reliably use 2GB or less standard SD cards. Also, do you by chance "format" your standard SD cards cards, in your camera, as recommended in your user manual?

Why does my Canon G12 Communication has an error message when uploading to my mac

Probably your memory card is full, you should erase some pictures from the camera and it will work. It happened to my Canon G9 . I erased some old pictures from my memory card and the message Communication Error disappeared.

Welcome to Fixya
Err 99 could mean several different things, such as... Memory Card, Lens or Lens contacts....

Here's what you can try:
Remove the memory card an enable "shooting with out memory card" and see if you still get the error. If it works your memory card is bad. Try another lens if you can. Clean the lens contacts with a pencil eraser (be careful not to get eraser dust in the camera body or in the lens). Worst case scenario is, Err 99 could be related to the shutter failing which would mean a trip to Canon.

Thank you

I have a Canon Power Shoot A540. When I turn it on and get ready to take a picture I am getting a message "Memory Card Error". Wonder if you can help! Thank you. Bonnie Steele

It may just want you to format the card in the camera. This will erase it so download any pics you want to save first. Use a card reader if necessary.

I just got my camera today and i put in the memory card and i could only take like 4 pics before it say "memory card error".. and i did try delete all the pictures off this memory card but it just saysnot...

Have you ever "formatted" (not erased) the card in the camera (noting that this will also erase any pictures that you have on the card)? There are several possible causes for memory card errors. Troubleshooting tips for this problem may be found at this link.

I keep getting an memory card error message on my canon PowerShot

try doing a format with the camera. there should be an icon of a wrench in the menu--in this sub menu you will see "format." this action will erase anything on the card. i actually had the same problem with a canon camera, and this worked for me. Sometimes new flash cards are not compatible off the shelf--they need to be formatted. You should have at least flash cards to be sure card is not defective. Let me know if this helps!

Error 99

Error 99 is an "unspecified" error. It can sometimes be due to poor communication between the lens and camera. Here are some things to try:

1) Turn the camera off. Remove the memory card. Remove the lens. Replace the lens. Turn the camera on. Replace the memory card.

2) If that doesn't fix the problem, try cleaning the contacts on the lens and camera. Turn the camera off and remove the lens. Hold the lens upside down (contacts down) and gently rub the contacts with a clean pencil eraser. Be very careful to ensure that the eraser debris falls on the table and not into the lens. Repeat with the camera body, also holding it upside down (contacts down) as you clean. Replace the lens.

If neither of these work, then you need to send the camera in to Canon for repair.

Error 99 in Canon EOS 350 D

Try the following diagnosis steps, in this exact order. This will isolate the cause of the issue: -
1. Turn off the camera.
2. Remove the lens, battery, and CF card.
3. Allow the camera to sit without power for approximately 20 minutes.
4. Insert only a fully charged battery, and turn on the camera.
5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture.

Does the “ERR 99" message appear? If so, the camera may be faulty and requires a service. If it does not, then: -
1. Turn off the camera.
2. Insert the CF card.
3. Turn on the camera.
4. Format the CF card in the camera.
5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture.

Does the “ERR 99" message appear? If so, then the CF card is faulty. Try a different card. If the message does not appear: -
1. Turn off the camera.
2. Clean the gold contacts on the lens by GENTLY rubbing them with a pencil eraser or soft cloth. Keeping the camera face pointing down, also clean the gold contacts on the camera, being careful that you do not let any debris fall into the camera body.
3. Reattach your lens.
4. Turn on the camera.
5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture.

If the “ERR 99" message only appears when one particular lens is attached, then that lens should be examined by a service technician.
If you see the “ERR 99" with a different Canon lens attached, then the camera is faulty and should be serviced.

Canon zoombrowser Ex downloading problem

The sd1000 manual says that you will get this error when you have too many pictures on your memory card (aprox 1000). I am not sure how many I had on my 2GB card but it was a lot. I deleted about 50 - 100 pictures and then it started working again and the new pictures downloaded to the computer.
