There are four focus modes: S-AF (Single auto focus), C-AF (Continuous auto focus), MF (Manual Focus), and S-AF/MF (Simultaneous mode). (SINGLE Auto Focus): Focusing is performed once when the shutter button is pressed halfway. C-AF (CONTINUOUS Auto Focus): The camera repeats focusing while the shutter button is pressed halfway. (MANUAL FOCUS): The function allows you to manually focus on any subject while looking through the viewfinder. SIMULTANEOUS USE of S-AF mode and MF mode: You can fine-adjust focus manually by turning the focus ring after AF is performed in the S-AF mode.

Digital SLR will not focus

check the contacts on the lens... since it is copper and would develop copper rust... clean with iso alcohol and let air dry for an hour... clean the contacts on the camera too.

reset the camera back to factory defaults by mode dial to p, press menu, and custom reset back to factory defaults

also certain camera settings such as focus points and iso will help in low light

How to use a manual zoom lens with Evolt 510

By manual zoom lens I am assuming you mean a film camera lens. If it is one of our OM 1 or 2 lenses they can be used on our Olympus digital SLR camera but you will need to purchase an MF-OM1 converter to be able to adapt those lenses to fit on our digital SLR camera. Then you will only be able to shoot using those lens in manual focus mode. Auto focus mode will not be available.

Olympus Evolt 510 LCD Issue.

I purchased a olympus evolt 510 - having problems taking picture in the dark. The camera will take 30 second to focus and sometimes will not take a picture at all. Also I find when I am in doors the camera will take a substantial amount of time to focus on an object this is specifically when the flash is in use. The flash seems to be adjusting flickering constantly. Seriously Annoying.

If you can be some assistance I would deeply appreciate it.

Best,

JP

Focus works intermittently

You say intermittent start up issue. So it is occasional and eventually settles down. Could be a lens contact not quite making it. Have you tried removing the lens and refitting? You also address the problem to Olympus Tech Support- may be something they know about

How many focusing points are there provided in the camera to measure distance to a subject?

Normally the camera measures the distance to the subject using the 3 auto focus frames (left, center and right auto focus frames) in the viewfinder and selects the most appropriate point automatically. You can also select any one of the three points.
