Hmm, no center and rear = stereo only. What soundfield is selected? D source may be determining d soundfield.

This may not be Dependant on the Music or DVD, but with the setting on the Home Theater system. Try out all the modes - such as 2 Speaker, Multi etc. within the Home Theatre system. In one of the mode only the center speaker works.
Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Sony Home Theater System DAV-HDX277WC - I get sound and video when playing a DVD, but no voices. Tried many different movies. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Verify that all speakers work for test tones first. The center carries most of the dialog. It's in the manual, as is your symptom (page 101).

My sony dav dz270 home theatre has no sound through centre and rear speaker

You must have changed the listing mode to stereo. In that mode only the left / right & subwoofer will work. Press the surround button and change it to any other mode .

No sound in center rear channel home theater

Must have a 6.1 or 7.1 source for this channel to work.

Does your receiver have a 'test' mode in which it pipes pink noise through each of the speakers... try that to see if it is actually hooked up correctly.

Cannot play dvds

Get a can of compressed air and spray some air in there. Your lens may have become dirty. Has it ever played DVDs? How long ago?
