Welcome to the world of HD TV sets. Many will last only a few years, regardless of brand. The cheaper ones last only till the warranty runs out and some of those only have a 90 day warranty.
Sounds like a power supply problem but can't be sure without opening it up. The repair cost is almost as much as a replacement set. Many choose not to repair and sell the set to others to try a repair on their own. Options are, pay $200+ for the repair, find another same set with a different problem (broken screen) and use it for parts to fix yours, or sell it as is for someone else to try and fix it. Let me know if you want to sell, I am in Ont also.

I have the same problem. It happened once before about 4 years ago just after I bought it. I put a DVD in without the power on. I was able to take it out and it worked fine. This time my daughter put the DVD in, I took it out but still no picture or sound.
Have you had any luck?

The power supply module will be the first place to look, it may have bad DC filter caps, blown or burnt parts, cold solder joints, etc.

Hi There are some factors of this kind of problem. First you could have a failure in the power supply. Next could be the main board. Lastly you could have a problem with the panel itself, this would mean a new set for sure because the part cost is more than a new set. However try troubleshooting the problem before spending money on repairing or replacing the television. Possibly you can restore the picture and sound to your television ... Verify the TV is powered on by pressing the power button on the TV's remote or the front panel of the set. This may seem like an obvious step, but many TVs are equipped with a standby light that will illuminate if the TV is turned off, making it appear that the TV is on when it is not.Cycle through the TV's video inputs to verify that your TV is set to the right one. For instance, if you are attempting to use a digital cable converter box that is plugged into the Video 1 input and the TV is set to a Video 2 input that has nothing plugged into it, the TV will not display any picture or sound and may even say "No signal" on the screen. To cycle through the inputs, use the input selection button, typically labeled "input," "source," "TV/video" or the like. Re-seat the video and audio input connections to verify a loose cable is not causing the TV's loss of signal. If you have a coaxial cable connected from your wall cable jack directly into the TV, it may have come loose thereby eliminating all picture and sound on the TV. Locate the connection cable or cables of whatever device you are attempting to watch and unplug them from where they plug into the TV. Plug them back in and check for a signal. If there is still no picture or sound at this point, the best option is to contact technical support for further assistance.
