This is an astronomical telescope-- all astronomical telescopes show upside down and or reversed images. It's completely normal.

For terrestrial viewing you must buy an "erecting prism diagonal" similar to these:

Feature Analysis
  • Porro Prism Lens
Though many optics producers keep on trying to transform roof prism lens, Porro prism lenses are more affordable and light-efficient. These Porro prism lenses can display images with better contrast than roof prism variations. This is how Bushnell Spotting Scope is more reliable and affordable for its high-quality performance.
  • 20-60×65 Zoom Magnification
The wide range of magnification allows user flexibility for long-range view finding. You can observe details with 65x zoom for long range objects. But, you can still enjoy an increased field of view with 20x zoom. This is used when separating the areas for closer zoom viewing later on.
  • 65x Lens Light-Gathering Capability
This advanced magnification lenses can light gather at long distances. The Bushnell Trophy 20-60x 65mm Waterproof Spotting Scope resolves this issue by designing 65x zoom lens in a way that brings 17% more light than most high-zoom lenses.
If you fully read Bushnell Trophy Xtreme Spotting Scope Review, it will support you how to setting zoom for longer distances images.
  • Waterproof Construction
When you go out in nature, this waterproof construction anticipates you about rain or even snow. It is pretty obvious that any liquid that leaks into your scope will detract from the overall image. But many people do not consider the effects of concentration on the inside of the lens.
This spotting scope is actually water and fog proof not only for outside moisture but also prevents lens fogging from risky temperatures.
  • Fully Multi-Coated Optics
The multi-coated lenses prevent any reflections in the glass that can delay your view. The sunlight at certain angles can cause reflections from water or wet surfaces that prevent the clear view of the images. That is why; Bushnell uses multi-coated lenses to remove any kind of reflection.
  • Well-designed Equipment
The tripod often needs to hide from animals, and the scope cases also need to protect their insides from both jostling and the outside elements. The Bushnell Trophy XLT comes with both a hard-side case and a soft side case. The hard side case protects you from outside damage and a soft-side case protect you from a bumpy road when you are riding.

We are trying to test out viewing land based objects using the 30X eyepiece, which according to the instructions, should appear right side up and not upside down! This is not happening.

It's NOT really a problem. ALL reflector style telescopes show upside down images. This will not affect your star gazing since there is no UP OR DOWN in outer space. Read my tips on my profile page.

You can buy an "erecting diagonal" for terrestrial viewing- BUT this is not what an astronomical telescope is actually used for.

So align the small finder scope on a distant object like the top of a telescope pole during the day time. Point the main tube at the pole and get the tip top in the main tube's eyepiece. Without moving the telescope adjust the crosshairs on the finder scope on the exact same spot. The moon should be your first target at night and you can check and refine the finder scope on the moon.

I have a bushnell sportview 45 3.5-x10x45 WA brand new in a box what is the value

The scopes are fairly cheap, I think it retails for $140, that was a few years ago. But not much more than that. It is not a quality scope, more of a utility scope. Hope this helps.

Bushnell Discoverer 78-8945

All astronomical telescopes show upside down images. Read my Frequently Asked Questions Tip on my profile page. These scopes are made to view objects in the night sky which are very small, and faint. To erect the image would require more glass or mirrors in the optics and would further dim these objects.

You can buy an "erecting prism" to use for terrestrial viewing. Like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Bushnell-780103-1-25%C3%93-Format-Erecting/dp/B000EY2ZFK

Your scope is working just fine.

My bushnel is fogging up in side of scope it is a banner 3-9x40 what to do?

if the scope is fogging up its leaking water into it, witch means its lost the "o" rings that seal this scope, dont try to fix it as it needs a full strip down and all the glass cleand then a re-seal and a re-gas,
to be honest all you could do it leave it in a warm place to dry out but as soon as you go out with the scope in the cold air it will frost up on you it may be a lot cheaper to just buy a new scope

Bushnell Banner .22 scope with loose part inside.

It would be better to replace the minute you disassemble a scope unless resealed with special equipment it will never function as well nor will it be reliable and for a bushnell by time you payed for shipping to and from a repair place you'd be at cost of new so might as get new one which has newer glass types that are vastly better than 20 yrs ago

Upside down sight

You need a 'spotting scope' adapter to right the image using a prism.
