Some channels are snowy and some are clear and sound is not good on some channels as well.....i got the tv from a person who was having same issue so they gave it to me so i could get it fixed so was just wondering what might be causing this .... i hooked up with diffrent cable but same issue in two diffrent homes so it cant be a bad cable it's a 42in vizio e421va model

We literally have 1000s of LG TVs at work ranging from 32"-42" and beyond. Our joke is that LG stands for Little Good. We have to pay a few hundred dollars to replace the tuner board inside.

Their is no more you can do. You need a professional. Stop using the TV until it is repaired. Call the manufacturer to find you nearest authorized service center.

In all likelyhood, you have a bad ground somewhere in the cable. Try other channels through the VCR. If the ground is the problem, there will be a cluster of channels that are snowy with the rest being clear. Check the cable itself and all of the connectors along it.
If the cable and connectors are good, the tuner or power supply of the VCR could be faulty and cause this as well.
if you recently got dishnetwork call the company that installed the system for a repair person, they HAVE to fix it. if you put it in yourself it sounds like the lnb is bad or the dishnetwork splitter is bad or not hooked up right. this kind of problem is a reminder that paying an extra $5 a month for service warranty is a good deal. if something is wrong with anything then, a phone call to dishnetwork will get new equipment sent to you or a service tech sent to fix it. i don't presently work for dish or direct or a cable co but i know that's how things work.
you have cable and the stations are still snowy? could be tuner do you have a box or directly hooked up to tv, try unhooking box if you have one and directly hook it up to tv if you havent already done so
If you are on cable, first run the cable wire from the wall directly to the TV, eliminating any cable box and/or VCR. If channel 2 is snowy but the rest (especially 3-6) are clear, it is most certainly a cable problem and not a TV problem. The TV uses the exact same circuits for channel 2 to 6 (VHF-LOW) so if the tuner was bad and 2 was snowy, 3, 4, 5 and 6 would be snowy too. Bring a second TV into that room, disconnect the cable wire from the RCA and connect it to the second TV. Is channel 2 on the second TV as snowy as it was on the RCA?
