A Reset of your Pocket PC is equivalent to "Restart" of a desktop computer. Carry out the Reset only in such unusual cases as when a button or tapping the screen does not respond. When your Pocket PC is reset, no data will be deleted. All stored information like Addresses, Contacts, Tasks or Programs are still stored in the Pocket PC memory. To Reset the Pocket PC, the power must be on. Then press the Reset switch with the stylus, then release. Your Pocket PC should function properly thereafter. If the functions cannot be restored, even after the reset button is pressed, Initialise your Pocket PC (refer to the FAQ article: How can I initialise my Pocket PC (Factory Reset).

The e310 can't use USB power to charge through the cradle. (It needs more than USB specs allow.) You have to supply +5v DC to the connector at the cradle or the e310 itself. Positive terminal is the center pin/hole, negative terminal is the outside barrel of the plug.

Windows CE Program's

On the new Toshiba e310, e570 and e740 Pocket PCs, Microsoft's new operation system Pocket PC 2002 is installed. The question whether Windows CE programs run under Pocket PC 2002 has no definite answer. Most Windows CE Program will run under Pocket PC 2002. Pocket PC 2002 is an improved version of Windows CE, or rather, the next generation of Microsoft PDA operating systems. Some parts of the internal architecture of the operating system, like the e-Mail system, are of a complete new design and in fact, quite different. So if you run older Windows CE programs using "old and possibly, changed parts of Window CE system", it is quite possible that the Windows CE program will not run or will not operate correctly. Tip: To avoid problems or data loss, we suggest using Pocket PC 2002 programs only. Please note: Pocket PC 2002 is only available for Intel "Strong ARM" processors. This is different to Windows CE, where several CPU's types were supported. Only Windows CE Programs for Intel Strong ARM" processors may run an Pocket PC 2002.

PDA e310, e330 or e740 together with Windows NT 4.0

The Toshiba Pocket PC's e310, e330 and e740 are designed to work together with Microsoft Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Millennium, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Microsoft Windows NT4.0 is an older operating system, which does not work together with the Toshiba Pocket PC's e310,e330 and e740. Technical background: The Toshiba Pocket PC's have a USB and a Infrared interface to communicate with a Computer. Unfortunately, Microsoft Windows NT4.0 does not support USB nor Infrared. Windows NT supports a serial connection, but the serial interface is not available for the Pocket PC's e310,e330 and e740. Note: There is the possibility to synchronize a PDA over Network or Modem but the ActiveSync Software, which is responsible for the synchronization, will need a "first sync" to establish a "partnership" with the PDA. This "first sync" can only be done via USB.
