Philips Magnavox 32MT3305 keeps shutting off with relay clicking. The green power light stays on but the picture and sound go out right after the orange status bar goes away. If the channel up or down button on the remote is pressed the picture and sound will come back on for about 2 seconds and then the relay clicking sound starts and then the black screen. I also noticed that the closed caption keeps turning itself on every time the TV is turned on even after you set it to off. I love this TV and it's only 6 years old.... I thought about replacing the relay but did not know if that's the issue or not....

Thanks for the input jholen... So far I've replaced the two main capacitors that had bad readings but it's still triggering the relay. However, now if I turn the tv off when it starts clicking and turn it back on, the tv works as normal.... So I'm guessing something else needs to be replaced but without a schematic I'm in the dark... The relay tested good so it's not the problem so anymore ideas would be greatly appreciated... Thanks again.

The relay is the safety protective device..sometimes a defective component or something. maybe an overloaded power supply might caused this problem..so before any thing could gets worst..the relay will shut the unit..

    Hey jholen,

Thanks for the input. So far I've replaced the two main caps that had bad readings but the relay is still triggering. However, now if I turn the TV off and back on when the relay starts clicking the TV works as normal now. So I'm guessing something else needs to be replaced but with out a schematic I'm in the dark... I've tested the relay and it's good. Could it be the transformer going bad since the two main caps were both bad? Any additional ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have a 2006, 32inch magnavox tv, model #32MT3305/17, serial # YA1AD517636280, chassis date April 2006, LO1 1UAC-7638. The is green light comes on when the tv is turned on and nothing happens after that....

Horizontal deflection is not working in TV and defective Fly-back Transformer or Horizontal Output Transistor can be cause of this symptoms. TV is in safety mode so you cant get picture and sound.
Need further help, please post back.

Magnavox tv when the power button is pressed the green light comes on but nothing else happens; there's no picture or sound or nothing; but the green light simply stays lit (no blinking).

Hello,

first, press the channel -/+ button on the TV. If that doesn't turn on the TV, then it means you have to replace the bulb of your TV. The bulb is most likely dead.

Replace the bulb and your TV should be restored.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Regards.

I have a magnavox model number 32mt3305/17 the green power light on the front panel is on but no sound or picture...just a black screen ...the fuse is good

You have lost your high voltage section, and that is why the TV is in shutdown mode, it has a horizontal output transistor that is shorted, and it is located on a metal heat sink near the fly back. You can have it repair if taken to the shop for about 100.

My TV keeps shutting off

Tvtek is on the right track. The remote will not solve the problem. Sounds like a voltage regulator in HV circuit if it only lasts a few seconds. If it stays on for a couple of minutes, beam limiter cicuit is pushing to overload and shutting unit down. Magnavox set not hard to repair, but a 27" set is not cost effective to repair either.
