Canon Powershot A470 - outdoor pictures are white bright. Pls assist.

Perhaps you check the settings. If the camera is on nightshot, or manual, with a long shutter time or wilde open diafragma your pictures are all overblown, or stripes come from lights. Put the camera in automatic. The main dial on the green camera logo, and try again. If this does not work, Please let me know how the settings are on your camera. Success

not sure what you are saying "cannot take a picture outdoor" - can you take a picture indoor?
if it's just a month old then return for warranty service - do not try anything yourself it may void warranty

Set it to outdoor light

My cemera outdoor picture come out bright/white on Canon PowerShot A470 but indoor picture and video picture comes out good. So kindly give me this proble suggession.

You can usually change the brightness settings or theres somtimes an option that reduces brightness when outdoors in the sun and vise versa

i have the same problem here. had it first in 2009 just about 8 months after purchase but had it fixed under warranty. It took them about 4 months to return my cam. they still have to send it to malaysia( im from philippines).

Now, 2 years later, it's back to the old problem. probably this has to do with the model considering that i saw lots of similar complaints

hi,you can try to set the white balance in the set up menu,
otherwise you can go on canon.com/customer/support
to see if is a fix for that ,but i think thats from your lens mechanism
may need to bee adjust

canon powershot A470 problem when i click photo then white image come? but when i use it night it is normal. but during daylight or with sunlight.. white image appear....and every time i take a picture there's a horizontal line appears in the picture..

I had this problem too, I think it's the shutter problem, it doesn't close
when a picture is taken, therefore, causing the over exposed photo...I've sent it back to canon, still waiting for the reply...

i was taking picturres with my canon A470 digital camera and when i review the pictures that i take, the pics were very bright that you cant view well the pics. what is the problem with it? it just suddenly happened like this.
