Certain keys don't respond when I use the shift key, while others do. These are the ones that are broken; 1234asdf7890jkl;
I tried unplugging the keyboard and turning off the computer, then re-plugging it and turning back on but it didn't help. I also tried uninstalling it and then letting the computer re-discover it on reboot, but this didn't help either. Thanks

Replace the keyboard. Something is wrong with the encoder chip inside, and new keyboards are so inexpensive there is no point trying to repair one when it goes bad.

ok solution you need to open the computer select c drive right click it select properties list will open select tools here you will see drive errors click it will scan for anything not working if not try this in search bar bottm left type in drivers this will open the device manager look in list select keyboard update driver done
Yes, a can of compressed air may solve it. Usually for me I need to remove the trouble keys and soak them in soapy water, dry them, and put them back on the keyboard. Be careful when popping them off as you can break them and have to order a new keyboard.

There is only a one year warranty on the electronics and the maker (Stanley-Black and Decker) will not sell the electronic parts separately. Check the installation manual for a reset procedure - basically the lock might be "forgetting" it's programming. Another possibility is that it's trying to move the bolt and can't. Be sure the bolt moves freely.
If the electronics have failed and it's out of warranty, there are other brands that are key-compatible with Kwikset. Weiser locks can also be keyed to be compatible with Kwikset. You'll still have the same problem if the electronics breaks though. The main difference is that other brands don't move the bolt with battery power, they just enable it to be moved by hand.
Hi It seems to be there is pressed button and should be released. Try with the control keys like ( Ctrl, Alt, Shift, both right and left, and Fn key ).
Press these keys hardly ( not much ) to release them,
1. Press the shift key several times and check if it changes anything. This is to make sure the inner part of the key isn't sticking onto the connector.
2. Press other keys as well, like Ctrl and Caps Lock.
3. Is the other shift key working? If it is, it is most likely that the other one is faulty. If it's the case, you need to buy one from ebay.
Try to search on ebay and see if you can find just that single key, some sellers are selling just the key for a much cheaper price. If you can't find one that's selling single keys then am afraid you should buy yourself a keyboard replacement.
A couple of things. Make sure none of your keys are stuck. One key being stuck will disable the keyboard. Carefully depress each key individually and see if one of them is responding differently.
If you want to try, and its not overly difficult, remove the keyboard and unplug and re connect every connector and ribbon cable you can find. Often one of them becomes loose or has a so so connection that can cause it not to respond.
