When I turn on my canon ir 1018 it doesn't stop heating, i.e it doesn't get ready. It keeps on turning but doesn't stop (get ready) in order to be used for photocopying

I believe you will find the belt is broken. There is a motor which is supposed to turn a belt, which in turn drives the drum. If you wish to repair ir yourself, a letter to "Fixya" could cause someone to walk you through the steps. Be blessed.
tried with reset doesn't work, ok it could be the IR sensor at the front panel of the tv doesn't work. but before you replace it you need to ensure if your remote controller is working. have you tried to check the remote with camera trick just to know if the remote controller is sending light to the IR sensor of the tv.
Hello, this is error code that isn't stated in service manual and doesn't have description. When this error occures the procedure is to report to Canon service center. The same errors were on ir1600/2000 series, but without some good explanations.
ir 330 and ir 400,gp 405 r same machine, turn on the copier when its ready to copy press the additional function then press (2 and 8 both r same time) again additional function when this process is completed copier on the screen select that in the screen find the 'function' select then select on clear in clear menu select one by one err and other all function like dc-con and press ok after se;ect one by one..
This sounds like a faulty fuser assy. Basically the machine is warming up but nevers gets to temperature. The lamp has probably blown and for some reason it is not giving any error.
I would put a new fuser in and all should be well.
Hello kundwa,
I have typed this message 5 ways and it does not get easier. Unless you are a Canon tech (or similliar) you are in deep doo doo. (****)(poop). Your boot rom has become corrupted (at a minimum) which means the device cannot "boot" to a ready. (That sounded smart didn't it?) I have to work on 1018's &1023/25's often. I am not truly smart. But I had to deal with "download standby" fairly frequently. You can play around the edges but the damn near bulletproof fix is to go into service mode and select CLEAR and then select "All". This will indeed clear "all" memory. That may do it, but I would reload the system software (newest) after that. This is where the "tech" comes in. End users cannot get the system software. And if they did they would not have the app needed to deliver it to the device. And if they had the app they damn well better know how to use it or you will have an expensive paper weight. I wish I had better news, but it IS fixable and it's a nice little copier. I wish you the best. SPINAL
