We have a Sony Bravia KDL 52 xbr9 tv. It is about 1 1/2 years old. We bought it Nov 29, 2009. For the last few weeks when we turn the TV on, the picture is distorted and dark (there are horizontal lines). After the TV is warmed up, the picture clears up. However, it's taking longer and longer to "warm up" and to give a clear picture. Any ideas? We've tried resetting the TV to factory defaults but that didn't help.

Have your TV check at Sony store.

If your TV is a month old call sony and get the TV serviced or exchanged. You are covered under warranty.

I have the same TV; the 52" XBR9. I bought it also a year ago. I am having the same problem. My TV flickers, images are double and tripled sometimes. But if you hit the TV on the back, not to hard, it fixes the problem. I am having a technician come on down to my home to take a look at it. My manufactures warranty is ending in three days. Thank god it had happened before that. The TV is mostly the problem here and not your cable box.

I have the same tv with the same problem. My tv is about 3 1/2 years old. I took it to the shop yesterday and today they told me that I had a bad lcd panel and a bad FL1 circuit board. They also told me it was going to be $3800.00 dollars to fix. I am now on my way to buy another tv, needless to say it will not be a Sony. Sony knows about this problem and refuse to do anything about it. Good luck.

i have a 46 inch sony bravia that i bought in 2007. recently i have noticed that the screen is showing horizontal lines (purple?) about that come and go. any advice would be greatly appreciated

Mine isnt even 1 year old and same problem. was fine last night, woke this morning, turned it on and there they are green and purple

i had prob where my sony would switch off for a few secs thenh come back on . The solution was in menu / tv settings / sleep timer . Go into that and make sure its set to off. there are opions for off , 5 min 20 min 30 min etc... mine was set to nothing just blank.
