We have tryed the solutions from the HP help website and nothing has worked. We did notice that it will not print color copies. When I tried to align printhead and clean - I do get an error 'bad printhead'. Can someone help determine the scanner failure and bad printhead problem. I don't need color copies but need the fax working for my business.
Thanks!
Scanner failure will not let you to make copies nad scan but you will be able to print from computer and receive fax.
Even then try the steps mentioned bellow:
Remove both the ink cartridges from the All-In-One.
Unplug the power cord from the All-In-One as well as the power outlet.
Now move the carriage (carriage is the one which holds the cartridge) Too and Fro till you feel the carriage is moving smoothly.
Then insert the cartridges close the access door.
Plug the power cord directly to a wall outlet without surg protector (If possible connect it to a different power outlet)
Before connecting the power cord to the All-In-One press and hold the # and no 6 button and then insert the power cord, do not release the keys
until you see a message a reset (if the screen goes blank then release the keys and turn the power on)
Now try printing Printing from computer,
If you are able to print from computer you should be able to receive faxes.
Try printing a test fax.
Press Menu/Setup> Then press the right arrow key to locate Tools> Then Press Ok> Again press the right arrow key to locate Run Fax Test> And press OK
Check to see if it prints a Fax test
Good Luck

I also didn't mention the fax will not work with the scanner failure problem. Desperately need the fax to work!
Ok everybody!
Sorry - new to this site fixya
The problem with the scanner failure have I traced to the LED-lamp in the catridge of the printheads
The simplest way to fix this temporarly is to pick both heads out and open the lower part of the carrige and repeating this a couple of times and then put them back again - restart the printer and try to "align printheads" - if this works the scanner will work too and hopefully it will take some time until it breaks again. The best solution is propabely to reassemble the whole cartridge and clean it before trying anything else. Good luck to you all
