To be able to send it to yahoo mail you have to be able to insert photos in yahoo mail and this is only possible in yahoo mail plus...In regular free yahoo you can only attach the photos ..and this will not need to use of Iphoto at all ...To attach a photo in email just open the browser to the yahoo mail page ...select new email ...write the address and all you have to say in email ..and on the task bar you have the function for attach files..and when you click it ..you are able to browse your hard disk for the location of the photo ..and select it and OK ..The pick will be uploaded in a few seconds and you will be able to send it via email ..The only issue again is that the capacity used to be max 10 M for attachments ..Im not sure now ..but I believe it is 25 M max..
It is much simpler with windows cause when you select send to email it opens the outlook ..
if sending photos over internet was the initial struggle ..allow me to propose another method..which do not depend on the system you use ...windows ...MAC ..Linux..
It is a sending large files over internet ...for free..and it works by uploading files into a temporary location ..on a server for free..and provide them only the email address towards you want to send the file ..The upload is very fast and you can even send movies with very large size...and you will be given a link from where you can simply download the files for the next ten days or so ..and after that they are erased,,
The files you upload are not made public or anything like that ..and if you want to send a large pictures folder..all you have to do is group them in a 200 or 300 M folder..and use winrar or another compresser for to archive them and send as a single file ..
Here is a link for winrar in case you do not have ..Just downlad and install after that ..just click right on the folder..you want to compress and select compress to ...(name of the folder)
After that ..all you have to do ..is to open this link ...
https://www.transferbigfiles.com/
click on the upload file (add file ..browse and select the file and OK (upload)
after that in the next section insert the email ..or emails (separated by coma ) and click send ..
all the persons whom are listed by emails in the recipient email case..will receive an email with a link and the notification that you send them files..
The 3rd is only for those that want to make an account .,.
here are more sites of this kind ..so that you will be able to use the fastest upload...(some of them are a little slow ..)
https://www.yousendit.com/
http://www.largefilesasap.com/ this one seamed faster...The fees listed are just for the case you need one of those services listed ..if you click next it will be free and lead you to teh uplad
Yahoo plus will not edit in any way your photos..the only thing it will do it will allow you to insert the photos in the mail ..and also have much more (im not sure if it is unlimited ) space for attachments..
If you want to learn more about read this ..
http://help.yahoo.com/tutorials/cg/mail/...
another thing if Iphoto allows you to downsize them ..use it to make them smaller in size ..save them in a folder than send them as attachments .

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. Yes you can upgrade your regular YahooMail to YahooMail Plus for $19.99 per month
Yahoo Mail Plus Upgrade
If you want to use your Yahoo Email to send iPhoto you can use the guide on the link below. Watch the video and it will teach you on how to do it. For yahoo just select attach files.
How to Attach iPhoto using your Webmail
If you have questions please let me know. Thanks
Mistype the information but i have the link for the yahoomail plus right and it shows that 19.99 is per year. I would like to know how many photos are you attaching on an email. Because you need to consider the size of your mailbox and the size of the mailbox of the recipient. Thanks
The question is incomplete you did not mention if you want to send it to another reciepient or you just want to attach it as a copy on your email.

Usually answered in minutes!
That I know. The problem with that answer is that it provides no option to reduce the size of the file to "medium" or "small" as iPhoto does. The selected photos would be sent at their original size.
Therefore, where photos range from 2 to 5 MB, the ensuing email is HUGE.
Thus, this is not a sensible solution without being able to downsize the files.
to follow my last reply, I do not have Yahoo Mail Plus....just Classic(?) I believe.
FYI, Yahoo Mail Plus is $19.99 per YEAR....not month
I think my original question has all the necessary details. Following the first answers/solutions, and my replies, you'll see another expert might be in order.
thanks
Yes as you say, as did the previous person, sending photos from regular Yahoo is straightforward...except that the reality of today's photo files easily exceeds 3meg and up to 5. The test I just performed on my Macbook Pro collected 20.9 megs (5 pix) and took 8.5 minutes to load into the email. 8.5 painful minutes.
And the further reality of sending emails is that we often want to send more than 4 or 5...and all we're really looking to do is share the image...not the entire original file. Few people I know (incl myself) appreciate getting 25meg of photos even from a friend.
So, I guess we're back to what I knew at the beginning, Yahoo Mail Plus is the only good answer for Mac OS 10.6.3.
Not to exclude the 3rd party photo-folks, Kodak, Shutterfly, and all the rest where you still upload (they do the compression) and then send an email, etc. etc.
Thank you.
Correct indeed, IF I was attempting to send huge files over the internet. I am aware of YouSendIt.
But that is not what my original problem consisted of..and hopefully the follow-ups clarified if there was confusion.
The need is to simply email photos either from iPhoto to some email service other than Mail...or...using Yahoo (in whatever version) send the same photos in a downsized format (as iPhoto allows)...so that
A. it's fast uploading and
B. I don't have to worry whether the recipient has high-speed internet access or not
So does anyone listening to this know if Yahoo Mail Plus has an option to downsize the original file (not simply compress it) before sending it? Again, as iPhoto conveniently and easily allows.
ah the world of 1's and 0's and brilliant code.
Please refer to the following sentence from my original problem:
It is that precise, awkward procedure that you just referred to:
I presently select the photos in iPhoto...click "email".....choose what size I want them....it opens Entourage...and inserts them into a new email...I then select all attachments...and drag and drop them into a folder on the desktop I've created...and in Yahoo select them as attachments and upload...and finally quit Entourage and discard that interim email.
It works and I've been doing it since "day one." But it's a total pain.
A simple answer (everything's easy and yet nothing's simple) would be for Yahoo and Apple to partner allowing Yahoo to be one of the selectable options.
Thanks anyway. I think we've gone round this barn enough.
I'll withdraw the problem.
"....instead of the painful: open Entourage/select/drag & drop to desktop/select in Yahoo....."
