My 93 year old blind friend asked me to fix her talking watch. It was keeping time, but the voice didn't work. I opened the back and fiddled with it a bit. Now the "voice" works, but the time and date are off. How do I reset them? My number is 9073983238 if it would be easier to talk me through it than to type the whole process and send via email.

Yes but you need to ask the phone using Google voice icon on screen, it looks like a "gear" but of course that doesn't help your mom. They do have brail screens I am, what makes do I do not know. sure.

If the spring is missing, you can wind a temporary one out of extremely fine coil wire around a sewing needle . If watch case is closed and alarm does not sound try stretching the coil slightly. If alarm comes on keep stretching coil a bit further to see if alarm gets louder. Similarly, coil may be too long if alarm does not go on. Then gently squeeze coil a little smaller and put case back together again to check alarm. If it is too soft then squeeze the coil a little more.
There is definitely a sweet spot for coil length whether hand made or store bought. Lots of fiddling but it works.

Some of these talking watches have 2 batteries, one for the voice and one for the hands, the one for hands is underneath the talking part. A lot of people don't know this and,just change the top battery. All watch batteries are the same voltage but the better brands tend to last longer, a good Swiss battery is the way to go. These babies are notorious for going down the tubes with a battery change. I bet if you get it back it won't work with a new battery. Twice I have replaced batteries and the watch didn't work when I finished. One of them was my own watch, I think $450 is about half the price of a new watch and that is sad. Cool watch just not very long life

On average, I've found that analog wristwatches that use a silver oxide (or alkaline) battery last about a year after a fresh battery has been installed. Digital watches, because they have no moving parts, will typically last longer on a set of batteries if you're not using the alarm or backlight function. Watches that use lithium batteries generally last two years or more between battery changes.

Based on your model watch, I would guess that your battery has run down too far to power the movement. A fresh battery will probably fix your watch. Hint: in the future, if you aren't going to wear your watch for a while, pull the stem out into the "set" position. That will stop the movement and extend the life of your battery. When you want to wear the watch, simply set the time (and date, if you have a date window) and push the stem back in.

ebel keeps that a secret they have a marking on there batteries mine 690 but there is no such after market replacement with this number. ( ebel wants to be the only game in town/ world ) but if you want to replace it your self, witch will void your warrenty 'says' ebel. take the battery out and take it to a jewelry store, and they can match it up ( $5.00 to $6.00 ) or pay $240.00 to ebel to "service" it. clean / new gaskel / batt witch ebel says is necessary to change batt. every 3 years or so. do not take the watch to the jewelery store only the battery , because know one will open it. they will want to send it out to ebel for service big $ also save old batt, because if you ever have to have the watch fixed put the old batt back in and hopefuly they wont notice. to get the battery out read my instructions i have posted its easy. other posts i have read on replacing batt, they don't know what they are talking about. do NOT remove anything but the bezel only. please Read hope this helps you out.
