Whirlpool Washing Machine Quitting during rinse cycle

An old machine with a new problem!

The washer cycle for washing works fine, but during rinse cycles it often craps out. It just stops as though unplugged. If I open and closed the top door a few times it sometimes starts back up.

Note: it doesn't happen everytime!

Also, opening the door during the spin cycle does not stop the machine like it should.

I would say that based on your problem description that the lid /door switch has a loose or faulty contact .. If you open and close it a few times..it starts to spin and yet when you open it.. it doesn't always stop the spinning.. It is either the switch or the actuator that bumps that switch.. That is where I would begin diagnosing the problem... Hope that helps..

Loud banging noise during rinse

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the rinse or spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary. This will solve your problem.

Washer makes a loud, pulsing, screeching noise with no spinning

Sounds like a transmission problem. Not worth the repair judging from age.

Washing machine stops during rinse cycle.lid switch is working

Most whirlpool washers have a cold water rinse . Turn the washer on the first wash and set for cold/cold . If no water goes in , then the water valve is the problem . Provided that the lid switch is good .

Wash machine sometimes gets stuck on rinse cycle & dryer not dry

Sounds like the drain hose for the washer is too far down in the stand pipe at the wall causing a siphon effect, try raising drain hose a little. The dryer sounds like the vent line from back of dryer too wall is pinched causing an air flow obstruction. Hope this helps.

Whirlpool Washer - Imperial Series Quiet Wash 2

your washers drain hose is too far down the drain pipe which is causing a siphoning action pull the washers drain hose out pipe some you should be able to hear water dropping into the pipe the reason it only happens in the rinse cycle is because the water from wash is being drained and before the water vacuum is broken the rinse water comes in causing it to keep draining

Whirlpool top Loading washing machine won't spin on spin cycle

If the washer won't finish a spin cycle, it probably means that your timer went bad or stalled. You can take the control panel off and look at the contacts for scorching or corrosion.
