Dryer is only 5 yrs old. Started to blow cool air. Not heating. Vent was blocked from outside. Cleared vent, flab is open, but dryer still not blowing hot air. Is there a reset on this machine? Why is it still not blowing any hot air?

Clear the vent hose to the outdoors- clean the lint trap - if all vents are clear, your temp safety switch is cutting off heat (for a reason) If dryer is 5 yrs orolder - replace with higher rated energy saver - it will pay off.

Check the vent cap on the outside of your home to see what the air flow is like when the machine is on. It should be forceful enough to blow your haire back if you were to put your face in front of it. Make sure the vent hose behind the dryer is as short as possible and is not pinched or coiled. This definitely sounds like an air flow issue.

I would check your venting. If your venting is plugged up it will not be able to expel moisture properly causing long dry times. Feel the airflow outside if its not strong then thats your problem. Good luck.

You vent is plugged very bad. Disconnect the vent tubing and thoroughly clean it out. It will heat and dry like new afterwards guaranteed. These dryers have sensors that shut the burner off if the exhaust is not venting properly. Once its cleared out it will run perfectly again

Most of the time this problem is attributed to a blocked or more precisely, a partially blocked dryer vent system. When a dryer vent is blocked it stops the air flow and the heat backs up into the dryer turning the heat sensors on and off prematurely taking longer for the clothes to dry. Over time this may cause the heat overload fuse to blow and you will have no heat at all.
First take a look at the dryers ducting between the dryer and the wall to make sure the vent duct (normally a flexible style) has not been crushed or kinked.
If the dryer duct to the wall is in good shape then in most cases there is a blockage some where between the wall where the ducting connects to the vent and where it exhausts outside.
The major cause of a blocked dryer duct occurs when the water in the clothes is heated to a high temperature and turned into steam, which is then exhausted out the back of the dryer to outside. As the steam cools on its journey and gets closer to the outside of the house, it tends to get cooler and turns back into water droplets. This is going to be the point where the dried lint, as it escapes past the lint filter, sticks to the newly formed water drops and starts a gradual chocking down of the 4" diameter vent to 3",2",1" and finally stops all flow of air.
Remember, the dryer is designed to exhaust so many cfm's and the more choked the vent the more heat is backed up into the dryer.
If you cannot access the dryer ducting, because it is in the wall or ceiling, to look for the obstruction, then look in the yellow pages or contact the local appliance repair service company and get the name for a good duct cleaning company.

If you can get the dryer outside, blow it out from the bottom with compressed air (using an air compressor or even a leaf blower). make sure the vent is clear and has no lint buildup. make sure the burner unit is also lint/dust free. If it is still heating, that is good news, and it is most likely a "breathing" issue. it also could be an issue with your gas pressure, however that is very unlikely. Best wishes in this project.

Hi, Is there ant heat at all? Is it possible the dryer heats at first and stops later in the cycle? The first thing to check is the 4" vent going to the outside. Make sure it is cleared of lint and that it is not pinched off at all.
If the vent is ok, you might need to replace the coils on top the gas valve.

Go out to where the vent goes outdoors and feel if any air is blowing out of there with the dryer running. If you dont feel any air then probably your vent is blocked. You will need to clean it or fix the vent pipe if it is crushed.

One of two possiblities:

1. Dryer vent is blocked - check the air coming through the outside vent
2. Blower Fan is clogged - remove the lower front panel and clean out the fan wheel
