Whenever I copy a document on the glass I get evenly spaced black lines running vertically along the paper (If I copy the paper with the long sides facing out to the sides of the copier.) These lines are spaced periodically and evenly, and there are even black lines on the back spaced in a different, you even pattern.
I tried opening it up and cleaning the drum and the rollers that heat up (I think those are in the main charger? Not sure.) After taking out copious amount of debris I put it all back together, and now it jams, and the paper that is stuck in there still has black lines printed on it.
I noticed after that happened that the black lines were being transferred from the drum; I saw one of the black lines about to be transferred. After looking at the lower pressure roller, I noticed that there are faint lines running long ways across it periodically as I spin it.
So how do I make these lines go away, and how do I get it to stop jamming?

Check your flat bed and Document feeder scanning glass need to be clean, if any dot or dust in scanning glass of document feeder it will appear a line, check this points first 1- Check printouts from computer or FAX if it is clean problem in scanning section 2- Check using Copying a blank paper using only Flatbed if it prints without any line its problem from document feeder Scanning glass So solution is clean the Document feeder scanning glass using wet cloth, note careful about wet cloth switch off the machine and clean it
Lift the document cover to expose the platen glass.
Wipe the platen glass (A), white areas (B), and transparent sheet (C) with a
clean, soft, lint-free cloth moistened with water. The MP700 has one even platen
glass and does not have an area like the one referenced in area (C).
Then wipe with a clean, soft, dry, lint-free cloth making sure there are no
residues left, especially on the platen glass.
Close the document cover and make a copy of a text document to confirm the
black line has disappeared.
Hello, when you open the copier platen cover, left of the copy glass, there is small narrow glass, which is used when you make copies from ADF. Over that glass is plastic protective sheet. Remove it and clean, also clean the glass. Use glass detergent and after cleaning dry it!
Most likely a fax has been sent or a page copied with 'white out' (Liquid Paper), still wet on the page. As the page feeds over the scanner, (a narrow strip of glass that runs across the width of the page along the feed path) the wet liquid paper comes off on the glass as a thin line and dries. Thereafter, when copying, scanning or sending a fax, the scanner light does not go through the liquid paper streak and the result when printed is a thin vertical line that runs the full length of the page.
If this is your problem: follow the path that the paper travels when sending a fax or making a copy, until you find the scanner (narrow glass strip). Take a clean, soft cloth and a small amount of methylated spirit (or white spirit) and remove the now dried Liquid Paper from the glass. Clean the whole strip ensuring that the glass is left clean and dry.
happened to me after i fed a page with not-too-hard whiteout on it. the feeder makes the page run through a different piece of glass and i just had to clean it.
Lift the lid and to the left of the main glass is a smaller glass; that is what scans during the feeding process. Make sure that it is completely clean; even a speck of dust can cause a line to appear. I took a lens wipe and cleaned mine and my line was gone.
