I have a Kenmore HT4 front washer and it washer is making a loud noise when it is in the spinning cycle. It sounds like the inside cycle is hitting up against something. It seem to wash okay and we don't have any leaking or it hasn't stop working so I'm just worried about the noise and it will break if we don't figure out the problem. It is leveled out on the floor so it's not a level issue.

There is only two things that I can think of 1: The bearings are going or 2: something has got under the door seal and is in between the metal drum and the plastic cover (around the drum). Could be something like a coin or even a bra wire.

its probably because of the way the clothes are in it. you have to make sure the clothes arent leaning to one side and that they are evenly set up. otherwise when it goes into the spin cycle itll lean and hit the side of the washers inside and make it shake and do what you said it was doing.
sounds like a rear bearing gone bad , not exaectly a doit yourselfer. pretty costly as well id call sears, for possible part warr. and how much theyd charge to replace the rear bearing?
I have a kenmore front load washer, model: 417 42042100 It makes loud noise and becomes louder during the spin cycle. The drum is loose when I inspected through the front door. My problem is how to open the cabinet and replace any broken parts.
My Kenmore front-load washer starts to make the huge noise. The noise happens during the wash cycle, but is mild. During the spin cycle, the noise becomes really loud. It looks like the drum is getting loose and hitting other part of the machine. I checked the drum, and I can sway the drum easily with my hand. So it looks some supporting structure is broken. I don't know if it is easy to open the washer to check what has been broken.
If the washer is making a squealing noise, the problem is more likely to be the basket drive. If it is more like a rattling sound, the centerpost bearings are probably worn out.
Open machine's rear panel and spin the basket manually by turning the drive pulley, to find out from where exactly the noise come from. Defective part should be replaced.
