Please make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.
Step 1: Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.
Step 2: With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Step 3: Remove USB cable, if present.
Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
Step 4: Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
Step 5: Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
Step 6: Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.
Step 7: I will be sending you the steps for the Semi-full reset as a private message, which restores the printer to original factory default settings.

The noise may be generated by a gear which has fallen off the shaft. The mount then grinds the gear of the printhead.
If that happens, open the left cover of the printer, find the gear in the unit and bring it back into the shaft. Just clip.
Then clear hardware failure status as described.
