Feed dogs on Singer 7466 wont stay up.

I was having trouble with my machine sewing and checked the feed dogs. They looked half way up so I tried to up them back down then back up again via the lever on the back of the machine.
NOW they wont stay up at all . I have taken the whole bobbin case appart and then took feed dogs off but still cant find issue. I am guessing its a spring but heck if I know. IF someone can tell me what to do next I would appreciate it. I dont wanna have to take the whole thing apart unless totally necessary.
I am outta work and try to sew for some extra money and NOW this..I cant really afford to go take it somewhere. I think I have had for 2 years or so.

Thankx for any advice.

There is a screw behind the feed dog with a plastic nut ,you need to loosen the nut and move the screw up or down and retighten where needed,,,,,,,,,also there is a plastic support under that screw that could have come out of place ,which means you will have to open the machine to reinstall it.

I am having the same problem with my Singer 6038. You are quite right Mr "frogss" about a plastic support. Mine fell out when I try to open the machine up. This model is also hellishly difficult to prize open even after removing all the screws. Clearly, putting a cheap plastic support in an inaccessible place is intentional for they want us to throw the machine away and buy a new one.

Can't get plate off over feed dogs on 503 a singer

To remove the plate over the feed dogs on a Singer 503, please follow these steps:
  1. Turn off the machine and unplug it.
  2. Remove the presser foot and the needle from the machine.
  3. Locate the plate over the feed dogs on the bed of the machine.
  4. Look for the screw holding the plate in place. It's usually located on the left-hand side of the plate.
  5. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw and remove it from the plate.
  6. The plate should now be loose and can be lifted off of the machine.
If you are still having trouble, consult your sewing machine's manual or consider taking it to a professional for assistance.

Foot feed stopped working

Manually turn the handwheel. Are the feed dogs still moving but remain below the sewing surface so they do not contact the fabric? Check to make sure the feed dogs have not been set to the darning function. Also set the stitch length to a 10-stitches per inch to see if that makes a difference.

Lower feed dogs

had a quick look at the manual for this at www.singer.com and I'd say your machine doesn't have the function to lower the feed dogs, many don't. It shows a darning plate which goes over the feed dogs to sew on buttons so if you are wanting to do free motion embroidery or similar, then use this plate to cover up the feed dogs.

The feed dogs are not moving. First time use

here are 2 links for a manual, just incase you don't have one

check in the manual to see where the feed dogs are, see if the lever for the feed dog are in the up position so the machine will sew, it the lever is down, try pushing it the other way,if it will not go up and stay in position then the sewing machine needs to be checked to see if what's wrong with the feed dogs.

if it's a new sewing machine and the feed dogs won't work then take it back and get another one.

I have a singer sewing machine Model #4622A. I cannot get the bobbin case to stay in the machine. It will sew a little, then the bobbin thread gets knotted up and the fabric gets caught in the foot feed....

Hello. Are you putting the presser foot down before sewing? Check also the stitch length, set it to at least 3, and make sure it's not set to a darning stitch or hand embroidery stitch that lowers the feed dog.

You probably have to coax it a little at the seams, just don't be too forceful, like try a real thin knife to see if it gives a little on the sides and top. So remember be gentle when trying to get it apart

I have a 7466 Singer sewing machine. No matter how I adjust the thread tension, the top thread always pulls the bobbin thread through to the top. I am doing thread painting. The feed dogs are lowered and...

Make sure to thread the machine with the presser foot up to insure the thread is seated into the tension control.

Always free-motion with the presser foot down.

Try a lower setting on the tension.

h! there,
fabric moves forward when machine run due to movement of feed dogs, feed dog has a teeth, when your foot presser goes down attached to fabrics the pressure hold the fabric between pressure foot and feed dogs that why when machine run feed dogs pushed fabric when recieved stitch.try to check adjustment of feed dogs it maybe set at rest or neutral.reset it to upward towards needle.check also bobbins thread if accumulation was build up under feed dogs.regard and have a nice day.
