I have a Sharp LC-42D62U and have our DVR from cable connected to HDMI #4. I want to hook up a Roku via HDMI to HDMI #5 but the input source shows unavailable sign. Is there a way to get both HDMI working?

If your Tv has this many HDMI ports it will have a menu to access each one separate. Go to your Tv's settings menu and look for your HDMI ports to use.

Sharp LC-32sb24u hdmi not working

You have to tell the TV which HDMI input to use. ie you should be able to press a button on your remote to do this. On my tv we can choose between 4 different HDMI inputs via the remote.

My Sharp Aquos LCD TV 40E77U is working on the analog input but won't detect HDMI inputs?

This set MAY require or have available a software upgrade for this issue.

Contact Sharp to see if they have it or if this is an issue in their database that is common.

I have connected a Roku Digital Media Player to Sharp AQUOS TV, I am able to get the video but no audio from TV, Audio cable and all are setup properly. Can anyone suggest me? also i see the same problem...

Use the HDMI cable on the Roku. The reason you don't have audio from the laptop is because the HDMI out on the laptop has no audio on it. You need to use a 3.5 mm audio cable to connect the laptop audio to the TV.

When plugging in a new PS3 to hdmi input 4 or 5 on the Sharp Aquos LC-42D62U, it is not picking up the connection and I can't select it on the input menu

Does the HDMI output on the PS3 have to be turned on first in its settings? Make sure the settings on the PS3 are at a minimum of 720p as if it is set to 480i the TV probably wont notice anything connected to HDMI.

Close captioning on HDMI

The TV will not display closed caption with HDMI input. It must either over-the-air (antenna) or composite input for the TV to manage CC.

To get CC with HDMI from your Comcast DVR, you need to configure the cable box. Instructions can be found here:
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/How_to_use_a_Motorola_DVR/Setup

If you want CC all of the time, this works well. But since you must power-off the cable box to change the setting, switching CC on and off is a real pain.

Your set-up is similar to mine (Sharp Aquos 46" and Comcast DVR). I have the composite output from the cable box going to a DVD-recorder and on to the TV. Whenever I need CC (usually to catch some mumbled dialog), I just rewind the DVR, and switch the TV input to the composite input. Then I switch back to HDMI to continue watching in HD.

Lc-42d62u 42in.

This is a common issue with HDMI. Try unplugging the TV for 2 monutes and also reset the cable box as well by inplugging.

Digital Audio Output on TV

When using HDMI as the source, the Dolby Digital data will NOT be passed through. If you switch your cable box or satelitte receiver to PCM audio it will pass that through.
