Fuel lines i recently bought a 96 achieva,and i have to replace the gas tank,wile doing so i noticed a line that had a tag on it that said fuel,this line is not hooked to anything,their is also two other lines that say fuel that are hooked to the fuel pump,i was wondering if the line that was not hooked up was of any importance?

Add approximately 500 ml of methyl hydrate (gasoline antifreeze) to fuel tank, this should help remove moisture from fuel, takes approximately 1hr.

Gas line was only repaired, not replaced. I don't repair gas lines because of this problem. The entire line is replaced, both of them, supply and return. From the tank to the injector rail. This is the reason for the long start. Loose of fuel pressure.

Could be your fuel filter was hit by your tire,one way to check is crawl under bye fuel tank and check your fuel filter.

A somewhat common problem on Nissan cars and imports that use clamps for fuel lines. Altho not usually that major.
Often times the rubber fuel hoses leak in very cold weather. The fuel lines going to the tank are on the driver side. So is the fuel filter.
I have to tighten up a clamp every winter on my 98 Villager when the temp drops below 30 degrees.
If the leak is major enough to leave a puddle on the ground you should have no problem finding it.

You can try to un.kink it with a pair of plyers.If you can't fix it you can get the gas tank fuel lines from www.rockauto.com.

There should be only 2 fuel lines and a vent line coming out of the tank. The vent line is for fumes that are routed to the charcoal canister-part of the evaporative emissions system, and the two fuel lines are the main feed line to the filter and then on to the engine, and the other gas line is the return line from the engine back to the gas tank. All fuel injected systems have a feed line and a return line. The return line is for fuel not used but sent back to the tank by the fuel pressure regulator.
Nowadays, rather than replace metal lines, shops can use the plastic fuel lines (they don't rot!) and special connectors to fit new fuel lines. YouTube has lots of videos on replacing fuel lines.

No I dont think you can as I cant on my 98 oldsmobile achieva and they are basically the same car. Almost all parts are interchangeable between the two.

All depends on how old the gas is in the gas tank, if it's been in there for a long time. The gas may have turned in to varnish and your going to have to drain it and put in new gas. Also replace the fuel filter, but is there any gas in the car??? It's know for the gas gauge to go up if the tank is empty.
Start with the simple and check all your fuses and the relay for the fuel pump and then replace the fuel filter and gas in the fuel line if it's been in the tank for a long time. Also make sure the fuel pump is working, you should get a fuel pressure reading on your shredder valve which is located on your fuel injector rail.

its a new tank before you fitted the tank it would need flushing. this is a lining they put on the inside to stop contamination, also to make sure its not been used, the same takes are on diesels and petrol engines and you don't want to mix them up so there is a film on the take to say its not used. you will need to flush out the tank. and flush your fuel lines injectors etc. when you bought the take they should of told you about the lining, or there should be a sticker on the tank to flush out before use.

Sounds like you are rusted out. Even the factory parts are not that expensive and they are properly bent. Check the dealer.
If substituting aftermarket piping you want to either replace the bad section with a splice or the whole piece. Notice the end connections and where you will attach the replacements.
Notice the routing of the gas line away from hot exhaust parts and areas a lift jack will crush your line. Notice what moves close to the fuel line to allow for travel.

You may be able to splice a piece of rubber fuel line into a metal line with a few clamps.

I have seen everything you will need at Autozone and Oreillys and similar stores with the exception of Factory parts.
