I have a Fuji FinePix Z3 camera. I thought it woudn't charge because the battery needed to be replaced (someone suggested). I bought a new battery. Now when I put the camera into the charger the red light indicater lights up for 30 seconds then goes off. Is it my charger? I can't turn the camera on because the battery is not charged. ????
The battery wont chage int the cradle. The red light come on for a second and the shuts off. The battery had a half charge when I plug it in. Now the battery is dead.Od you think that it is a the charger. Buy.com sells charger for 12 buck . I know its not much but I hate to waste money.

Mine is doing the same thing! I have a suspicion after reading another's comment that mine might have got a little bit of beer spilled on it...it'll still turn on for a second (maybe) and when I go to charge it the red light turns on for a couple seconds then turns off. It's just not charging!!! Anyone know??? It was fine a couple days ago...

How long you have the battery? I suggest you to fully discharged the battery and then charge it as much as you can, do this circle for several times. Hope this can help
Be sure your battery is in the right way. Try reversing it. My battery has 3 rounded corners and one square corner. The square corner goes against the latch.
If the recharageable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles andwill lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR Thebattery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the batterydrops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to anunacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.
Take out the card and download any pictures on it using a separate card reader if necessary. With the battery and card out, press all the buttons, insert the card and then the battery. Try turning it on. Also, go to the Fuji website to check for any firmware updates.
Parts or a new cradle are hard to find. I don't think Fuji makes them any more, although, depending on where you live, that country's distribution source may still have stock. What we sell our customers is a small charger which recharges the battery outside of the camera. They are about $10 US and plug into the USB port on any computer.
Generally Lithium-Ion camera batteries will last around 1-2 years. The batteries have a "memory", meaning that after a certain number of charges they begin to hold less of a charge. If your camera is still under the manufacturers warranty you can contact your manufacturer for assistance, otherwise most places you can buy digital cameras carry replacement batteries, but it is definitely time for a new one.
The symptom of light staying on briefly then going off suggest the battery is dead. If you bought a new battery did you put it in correctly? turn it around and try again.
I just today sent my camera to Fuji to have the same thing repaired. I've read that the on-off switch tends to fail on this camera.Mine is just a few months past warranty, of course!
this is my 3rd Fuji and 1st problem though.
Good Luck.
