Philips GoGear Firmware Upgrade
You need to get the latest firmware upgrade from the Philips website:
1. Go to www.philips.com/support
2. Enter your country/language
3. Enter your model # SA6045 or whatever
4. Click on the link for your exact model # (the one w/o the "B" in it)
5. Click on "Software & Drivers"
6. Download the updated "Device/Firmware Manager"
7. Once installed, open the Philips Device Manager
8. Click on the "Update" tab, then the "Update" button (with your mp3 player connected to the computer, of course)
9. Your Mp3 players firmware will update automatically
If you do not have the latest version of the Philips Device Manager installed (the latest is the version from the Philips website), then clicking the "Update" button will give you a false positive saying "The firmware on your device is already up to date."

Recovery Mode for Philips' GoGear
Disconnect the player from the PC, and make sure the mp3 player is turned off. Hold in the volume + button on the mp3 player, and reconnect the player to your pc while holding in the volume + button. Continue holding the volume + for 10-15 seconds until a "Found New Hardware Wizard" pops up. It should recover your device if there isn't anything internally wrong with the player. Warning: this procedure will result in your songs being erased off the player, so they will have to be reloaded.

SOURCE: phillips go gear 8gb

well if your computer doesn't recognize the device you will have to take your cd that came with the device and install it into the computer again, but don't plug your mp3 up to the computer yet just do this part first. after you install the cd again then try to plug up your device to the computer and if it does not come on keep on taking the usb cable out and hitting reset at the bottom of your device.keep doing it until it turns on and then try to transfer music on your device if you can

My phillips go gear froze in the middle of song. will not shut off.

Pull the battery or unplug for 5 minutes. this will reset the core. if the device remains in the frozen state, you will need to replace the core micro board.

My philip 8gb froze up and then turned off and wont turn back on

It's not broken.
You have to upgrade the firmware on the GoGear to resolve the issue.
The instructions and files that you need are on Philips website.

Phillips go gear 8gb

Reset the player by inserting a paerlcip into the reset hole. If that fails, go to Philips' website and upgrade the firmware on your player to solve the freezing issue permanently. Actually, don't go to Philips website - run the Philips Device Manager and select Update. If the device manager won't recognize the player, unplug the GoGear, hold in either the shuffle button or volume + and reconnect it to the computer until a Found New Hardware Wizard window pops up.

My Phillips Go Gear 8GB MP3 player wont sync music

Windows Media Player 11 ruins this player. Uninstall Windows Media Player 11, and roll back to Windows Media Player 10. Then use version 10 to sync songs to your device.
