When I turn on my laptop I immediately get a message that says disk read error occurred and I need to restart. I restart and then get the same thing over and over again, help!!!

hi there, a disk read error doesn't sound like a CD drive to me. It sounds like a hard drive failure to me. My advice is to take out the hard disk and take it to a person that knows about hard drives.
go to bios and load defaults. if still same thing happens after reboot. Boot from OS cd, on windows etup page, choose "R" to run recovery console. Choose OS. Run CHKDSK /R.
