My kindle screen no longer works.

if they sidebar works and you don't have an image on the screen, you definitely need a new screen. Amazon should give you a free replacement. If you're out warranty, you can get the part at Kindle Repair and there is a guide that shows you how to open a kindle and install parts at Kindle Repair Guide.

How xcan I transfer all my archived kindle books to my newer kindle

On your old Kindle, in settings select 'sync my kindle' (to make sure all content is in the cloud) On your new Kindle, register with the same account, and then select 'sync my Kindle' on that one. They should now both have the same content.

Kindle won't connect to wifi

Make sure *Airplane Mode* is *Off* in Settings. This will turn on the Wi-Fi transceiver. In the Wi-Fi Networks section right below the Airplane Mode section you will see available Wi-Fi networks. Click the little black triangle, choose your network and enter the password. It will only automatically connect to open networks. Most networks these days are *secured* and need a password in order to share data.

I had my kindle connected to my Wi-Fi Internet was disconnected for a month then reconnected but now my kindle wont connect even after I put in security code. It says forget on settings

Your best option may be to go ahead and tell the device to forget, then set up the WiFi connection again. Good luck.

My Kindle (version 3) suddenly won't connect to my

On a wifi connection when you see problems the cause will either be the device or the wifi router.
If you can try the kindle out on a different network this will tell you if it is the kindle or the network. If it connects then it not the kindle. It could be a setting or the router.

If it is a setting the two biggies are going to be something wrong with the security passcode or it isn't getting through the gateway out onto the internet. For settings you need to check things like using wep when it should be wpa or the wep key is 64bit when it needs to be 128 or in the wrong key location and so on.

When it can't get through the gateway that usually means your dhcp is wrong or you are using fixed ip. You can just set these numbers manually in the kindle.

The other usual suspect is that the router itself is beginning to fail. This usually shows up first as difficulty to connect and dropped connections or increasing errors. It will eventually fail. This is common and typical of all home grade wifi routers. They are good for about 18 months or so. If this is the case you might notice slow downs or dropped connections on other wifi devices. These units are not repairable so you just need to replace it.

Out of all the possibilities I would say your first choice would be the security settings and next would be the the router. Those are the two most common problems.

I have a new kindle. Can I tranfer my books onto from my old one?

You can easily load all of your books onto your new Kindle. Amazon retains a record of all your book purchases in an archive. When you register your new Kindle (and turn on wireless) it 'phones home' to Amazon and Amazon places an entry on your main menu entitled Archive. Just click on that entry and all of your past book purchases will appear and will automatically be downloaded to the Kindle when you click on them. However, if your old Kindle contained any books, pictures, or documents that you did NOT purchase from Amazon, those items will not appear in the Amazon archive. You will have to download those items to your new Kindle the same way you installed them on the old Kindle. If the only location of those un-archived documents is the old Kindle, then this will become a two step process because you cannot copy from one Kindle directly to another. Instead you must copy the documents off the old Kindle onto a computer using the USB cable, and then copy the books from the computer onto the new Kindle by way of the USB cable or by email using an authorized email account. (To authorize an email account for sending books to your Kindle, please visit Amazon's "manage my devices" section. If the new Kindle is not registered, or if it is blacklisted, then you cannot use the email method to transfer the books. The only way to install books on an unregistered Kindle is directly via USB cable.)

My kindle wont turn on

If the kindle won't turn on because it was recently dropped or water was spilled on it or something, you should consult your warranty. If this is due to no external event/damage you should call amazon and see whether or not there's an update in software or a bug of sorts. If it's on their behalf you'll get a replacement device. Good luck!

My kindle keeps freezing

In most cases, to avoid freezing, keep battery charged and turn off wireless when it's not being used. To properly reset, hold power switch to the right for 15 seconds.

Resetting the device is not a bad thing, most electronic devices need it to be done. It can be annoying, but it's not fatal.

I would keep track of how many times you need to reset the device. Once the amount get over a few times per day, honestly, I would call Kindle Support. They've got the necessary software to look further into your Kindle.

My kindle will not connect tot he wireless in a 3g

Hi! I'm not sure if you're still in need of a solution but I'm currently going through the same issue. My Kindle 2 has not connected to Whispernet for over a week. I've been back and forth with Customer Service (1-866-321-8851 or 1-206-266-0927 if you're calling from outside the U.S) and after an exhaustive search for any possible answer, they told me it was a network connectivity issue and forwarded a service note to AT&T/Sprint, and promised to notify me as soon as possible. I'm still waiting to hear from them. Yesterday my Kindle connected to Whispernet for all of three minutes (just long enough to download a book I bought over a week ago) and now nothing. I've even tried switching wireless networks in range (go to settings, hit menu, type 311 - select different wireless networks) but to no avail. So basically, the best thing you can do after you have tried a soft/hard reset, a fully charged battery and toggling wireless off and on is to call tech support. Do you happen to be in Orange County, New York? If you are, maybe it's a malfunctioning cell tower. Hope this helps!
