Amtrol Water Heaters - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support
Boilermate er3
is it an electric or gas or oil fired. Er3 means it is not getting up to temperature within the required time. Electrical - element bad. for oil or gas, no ignition or fuel supply.
IS MY HEAT EXCHANGER FOWLED
So you get an E-3 error and nothing you seem to do corrects the issues, I had this happen to me once and what I found is that my boiler system side was working perfectly but the water heater took forever to recover and get up to temp causing alarms. What I did was take my Delta T across the heat exchanger and found that it was only 10'F meaning that the conductivity in my system was very poor. I decided to remove the heat exchanger from the boiler mate and found that the exchanger had sediment build-up almost 2 " think. Now imagine this, say you have a bucket of water and you throw a 300'F piece of metal into the water, naturally heat conduction causes the original water temp to rise Now say we take the same piece of metal @ 300'F and wrap it in a blanket, now the temp giving off 300'F originally is more like 90'F with the blanket over it. Throw the metal wrapped in a blanked into a bucket of water. Now ask yourself which will heat the bucket of water up quicker? Obviously supplying 300'F to the bucket of water will heat water up faster than supplying 90'F. this is exactly the concept of a fowled heat exchanger. You want to get rid of sediment (blanket) on the heat exchanger to make the system heat up faster and require less energy to get that water to a certain setpoint
ER3 error code on amtrol hot water tank
Simply means hot water heater called for heat for 1 hour and never rose in temperature or reach stepping, unit automatically goes into lockout. I would reset power
Amtrol hot maker too hot
seems to me aqua stat or thermistor is not reading temps correctly or temp setting is not correct
Water heater is beeping with
if water heater is beeping E-2 it means that the water heater has gotten to high above water heater set point. Things to check
- there hot water being feed from boiler still
- is zone valve or pump isolated stopping flow of water to water heater
-check sensor readings
I have a ER3 message. How can I fix this
It tells you that your water heater called for heat for more than an hr and never got hot enough to meet the demand.
CAUSES
-bad sensors
-no hot water from boiler
-bad thermal transfer
-low delta T across water heater
Armitrol boiler mate hot water
It tells you that your water heater called for heat for more than an hr and never got hot enough to meet the demand. multiple scenarios can cause this
CAUSES
-bad sensors
-no hot water from boiler
-bad thermal transfer
-low delta T across water heater
Beeping noise
E2 means hot water over shot, make sure to check boiler hot water system to make sure zone valve or control is staying closed when the call for boiler hot water to the water heater is isolated. Sometimes a zone valve will fail open or not close properly causing hot boiler water to constantly feed the water heater.
I'm getting an er3 reading
It tells you that your water heater called for heat for more than an hr and never got hot enough to meet the demand.
CAUSES
-bad sensors
-no hot water from boiler
-bad thermal transfer
-low delta T across water heater
Noticed the circuit panel is blinking the code
It tells you that your water heater called for heat for more than an hr and never got hot enough to meet the demand.
CAUSES
-bad sensors
-no hot water from boiler
-bad thermal transfer
-low delta T across water heater
What does an error code ER3 tell me?
It tells you that your water heater called for heat for more than an hr and never got hot enough to meet the demand.
CAUSES
-bad sensors
-no hot water from boiler
-bad thermal transfer
-low delta T across water heater
ER3 no hot water
Er3 means that the water is being heated for more than 1 hour without reaching the set temperature.
Need new aquastat.
Er3 flashes hot water will not reach set point
Had this happen to me before, if you have hot water from the boiler going in and out of the boiler mate and the temps are not rising within the hot water means more than likely you may need to remove exchanger and clean sediment off element, basically sediment creates a blanket over the heat source causing poor thermal conductivity. Things to check before removing heat exchanger
- outlet temp of boiler water to aquamate -inlet temp of boiler water to aqua mate= 20-30'F if low then bad thermal transfer or poor water movement
-make sure sensor is reading properly
- get boiler temp higher to speed up thermal gain in water heater
