Air purifier filter smells bad

That's interesting... I doubt it is the filter if the new filter did the same. It might help if you take a fan and blow it through the area behind the filter, or maybe even spraying some Lysol in it, because my best guess is that something inside the purifier is what is causing the smell. Hope this helps!

Dust caked up on wires and fan,how do you take it

This question seems similar to another post from a while ago. http://www.fixya.com/support/t5074178-like_clean I just finished my Blue Air 500 for the same problem with loads of collected hair and dust around the fan. The manufacturer manual does not cover this type of cleaning and they do not want people to open the unit as it might void the warranty. It's actually simple you've done it but not obvious. There are 4 screws which you may not have seen on the top until you pop off the top grill. Remove those as they fasten the side curved panels, once the top screws are removed tug on the white curved pieces upwards and they should come off. Once these are off you should have full access to the interior to clean. Ours was utterly filthy and way past the warranty.

Blueaire 501 dust caked up on wires and fan,how

Hi, I have had the same problem and have figured out how to open it.

To open your blueair air purifier, follow the steps below;
1. Get a phillips head screwdriver,
2. Open the unit and remove the air filters.
3. Use the phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws that you can see.
4. After taking out the screws, remove the "galvanizedSwedish steel housing"
(cream coloured sides) of the purifier by lifting it upwards (i.e. from bottom to top of unit).
4. You will now have access to the interior of the purifier.
5. You can now take out the fan and clean it, or what ever part you are trying to clean. I used a Dyson HEPA vacuum cleaner.
6. To reassemble, reverse the instructions above to reassemble the purifier.

I would like to clean

The disassembly is simple. Remove the four screws you noted at the top of the unit. Each side panel will then slide up about a half inch. Pull outward and they're off. (The bottom is held on by tabs on the unit and slots on the panels). Clean it with a combination of vacuum and compressed air. Wipe the blades down with a mild cleaning detergent. (Spray it on the rag and not on the unit to keep the electronics safe). When re-assembling, be CAREFUL...the two panels are not identical. One has the spot for the light bulb. Carefully replace this panel so as not to break the light. Align both panels well by pushing down so the slots re-engage the tabs, and you're done.

CAR DIE WHEN SLOW DOWN OR STOP AND LET GO THE GAS

i went to my mechcanic the same day my engine started to make the same loud noise that you are talking about. he said that it was the flex pipe. just this morning (5:30am 8/3/09) i went to dunkin donuts for my morning coffee and while waiting in line, my car just stopped running. like you said, when you take your foot off the gas and press the break, the car stops. no doubt about it, it is the flex pipe. im sure by now you got your car fixed but i thought that i'd share my car troubles with you :)
