My Boss br-8 keeps saying medium error. It's not
If the disk had music that was not CREATED on the BR-8 you will get the error. The format is incompatible with computer formats.
If the files were created on the same BR-8, then you probably have a disk drive failure.
Try initializing a blank disk. If it will not, then you have a drive failure.
Also is it possible you are trying to read a 250Mb disk on a 100Mb drive? That won't work either.
BR8 Digital recording studio lights up, but it doesn't do anything else
I called Roland at the number that you provided and gave they following proceedure which will re-intialize the BR 1180 and ERASE everything that was created on the HD:
- Simultaneously hold down button beneath volume control at track 5 and Undo/Redo button at upper right
- Press power button while holding down buttons as above, until test menu comes up
- Turn selector dial untill initialize screen shows
- Prdess ENTER and initialization will start
- Once initialization is completed, power off unit and then power it back-up.
NOTE: This proceedure erases all data!
My ME 70 is auto skipping. Example, from one
"Auto skipping. Example, from one effect to another".
Is it always so, or only sometimes?
What type of effect? Is it happen at the all Type of parameter? It can be observed from the changes sound is heard.
Yes
"it just need cleaning", but, which parts are cleaned, and how he did? Is it potentiometer?
And if he simply cleaned by spraying contact cleaner, this is not effective at all, because it does not touch at all the inside of the pot.
Potentiometer need to be replaced, but if it is difficult to find, open the back lid of potensio. Fix the inside (you have to understand the potentiometer structure inside).
ME70 pots are look like this :
It works fine for about a few minutes and then the light is slowly getting pale and the sound slowly looses power until it doesn't give any sound at all. Tried a few different batteries, same thing.
Battery is not the problem.
It could be transistors, IC, elco etc. It must be checked.
This electronic parts, could be
almost breakdown. At the beginning of the device is turned on, it work fine, but after a while it became hot, then the value is changed, then the circuit was not working.
Can also occur on the DC input, the diode and the elco (D006,C019,C40,C41). View image.

Boss MT 2 Metal Zone distortion pedal schematic
.
Boss ME-70 distortion changing mid play why.
Is distortion changes like we turn the OD/DS selector (changes to Boost-Natural-OD1-Blues etc)?
If so, the OD/DS potentiometer need to replace.
If the changes are like increasing/decreasing GAIN/BASS/MID/TREBLE/LEVEL and also TYPE of pre-amp, then one of PREAMP potentiometer is bad.
How to connect an expression pedal to a Boss gt-3
Just plug FS-5U or FS-5L or EV5 / FV300L (Roland),or other external switch to SUB EXP PEDAL.
You can also use pedal switch that you create by yourself.
Use stereo phone jack and cable.
It can be function for 1 or 2 switch.
Setting function for SUB-EXP-PEDAL is at UTILITY-GLOBAL menu.
You can set switch 1 or 2 for what do you want to function each switch at the external pedal.
If you want to connecting external expression pedal (FV300L),just plug it to SUB-EXP-PEDAL. Setting is same as above.

I cannot turn on my
The devices that have battery AND adapter capability OFTEN have a switch that the adapter opens when powered by the adapter. Often this switch contact gets bent and units won
t run on battery, so try it on an adapter... if the adapter works and battery doesn't, this contact whcih is a part of the input power connector has failed.
I have the Boss RC-50
Likely the switch contacts for that pedal have failed. You will probably have to get it repaired. Stomping on the pedals is a good way to damage them, but the switches are often marginally designed anyway...
If you can access the switch you could try getting some CRC226 available at Home Depot in the electrical department into the switch, but often the internal parts of switches fail.
