My machine won't turn on
do you have user's manual with wiring diagram? if not try H.B. If you get one, there is a diode that keeps your machine from frying from over-voltage. Kinda like a fuse, but is not a fuse. If you can check voltage across it, it is not the diode. That is a simple start and the most common problem for not starting.
I have a Homemaker HY5028.
You need to use a knife or something to push down the small black release button then it will lift straight off. I got my daughter to push down the button as i lifted.

Depends on how old it is. It could have bad brushes in the motor or it may have burned up. Do you smell burned insulation etc.? If it just quit there may be a problem with the switch or the cord. Wiggle things and replug etc. to see if that is the problem. Otherwise, you may need a voltage tester to check for power.
I bought a Jack Lalanne's
motor has burned out field winding s and is not capable of running under load
the seller knew that and you bought it
hope you didn't pay more than a few dollars for it
