Hello, I bought the safe executive CS-2 less than a year ago, Couple of month ago started to hear beep all the time with ready led switched on, I thought it might be the batteries, I changed them but same problem, I thought maybe it needs new code, I changed it but still the same? I have the Kinavon 28 safe, I have lost the keys and the batteries started to die, eventually the batteries I think have given up, I use to get all the three lights on, red, yellow green but now I'm only getting the yellow light on, there's no clicking as It usually did, has anyone any Ideas how I can access It or resolve this problem?

Put gentle pressure on the catch and starting with the combination wheel that is furthest away, turn the dials until you feel it give a little, then move onto the next dial. The final dial will drop into place and open. There is also a 'shimming' technique, where you insert a thin feeler gauge leaf into the dials and feel for the flat spot. Is there power on the display? Bad batteries, or incorrectly installed. Or you haven't set the new code which is erased when the batteries come out. Always do testing with the door open. 'make model (what it is)' in all questions please.

I presume you figured it out by now, but if the tailpiece is installed wrong in many deadbolts, the key won't come out in one position or the other. It's called a "timing" problem and the way to fix it is to take it off the door, turn the tailpiece a half circle and put it back on the door. Usually Kwikset locks are designed so you can't put it in the wrong way, but it can happen. (If it's not the timing problem, then the deadbolt unit is defective or broken. They are designed to fail in a way that keeps them locked, so this could be a sign that someone tried to break in, or that someone used the extended bolt as a way to stop the door from closing and it hit the door frame too hard.) The best way to install a deadbolt lock without the instructions handy is to look at the "lazy" cam and see if there is a way to install it wrong and don't install it that way. Example: If there are 2 ways for the tailpiece to fit in the deadbolt unit when the deadbolt is retracted and only one way for the tailpiece to fit in when the deadbolt is extended, then install the lock with the deadbolt extended and you can't install it wrong.

Not all the time but sometimes it is the result of trying to use the door handle too soon. Try a small pull and then a push. At other times, it is caused by gears wearing out from a handle being frequently pushed down. Try lifting the handle up. As I don't know the brand or model of the security lock, I'm hard pressed to offer a fix. Sounds like a mechanical issue rather than an electronic one. If so, disassembly is required. Why am I envisioning the door having to be taken off the hinges? Sadly, looks like a job for a locksmith.
