put it back in the box and take it back for a replacement under warranty
also make sure that you have read the user instructions especially the safety section to see if there are any transport locks that have to be removed first before operating it

Hi there, it sounds like both the top and bottom tensions need to be tightened. Start with your bobbin. Tighten it gradually, a quarter to a half turn of the screw at a time. Sew a bit after each adjustment. When it starts to pull the top thread down, move on to the top thread and adjust it until you are happy with the look of the stitch...note, you may have to adjust your bobbin a tiny bit more, but not too much, the least amount of tension necessary on the bottom is always best. I hope this helps, have a great day!

I've had this same problem with my Husky. For me it was the connection between the machine and the foot pedal. The plug wasn't sitting properly in the socket. Try holding the plug securely in the socket when pushing the foot pedal. Gently wiggle the plug to see if there is a spot where it will work. I ended up wrapping one layer of electrical tape around the plug, and haven't had that issue since. It could also be the foot pedal itself. If you have another foot pedal with the same plug, try it too. I hope this helps, good luck, have a great day.

Hi Jeannine, everywhere I've looked for an answer says that the Husqvarna 550 xp is a chainsaw. Are there numbers or letters missing from the model number you've posted?

Hi there, I've had this happen to me too. I'm not sure what stopped it each time, but this is what I did. 1. Change the needle. 2. Make sure your top and bottom tensions are set properly according to your manual. I have had it too tight, which didn't allow the hook to catch the top thread. 3. Check the bobbin area for thread or dust build up that might be affecting the sensor. 4. Give everything a good clean (I use pipe cleaners to get into tight places) and then oil it according to your manual. I hope something helps, good luck, have a great day.

Hi there, gently tilt the head of your machine back and rest it on the white peg thing at the back. Inside you should see lines on the back side of the oil pan...min and max. If you are somewhere in between, all good. If not, add more. NOTE: always use clear machine oil. Any other stuff will stain your work. Hope this helps, have a great day

Hi there, no you cannot do a stretch stitch on the ddl-8700. It only has on stitch and it is a straight lockstitch.

A service manual would have to be ordered directly from Brother.
