normal if it is the outside surface that is warm as that is the condenser exchanging the heat through a panel the compressor will run for a period until the heat inside the compartment is brought down Experience has proved that to get any fridge /freezer to work well , place a bowel of water in first as that gives a heat source to cool down and it will do so more quickly that just an empty volume

There are so few parts and the parts are easy to access. Other than a premature compressor failure, you could have gone into a site such as this, explained the problem, and have someone such as I walk you through it.

If its freezing fine with no problems the orange light is just showing that it has power. Hope this helps good luck.

Check you tube just go to you tube and type in what the freezer is doing .I've found a lot of things on there .

The compressor has a start device that could be the problem. If you remove it it should not rattle if it does it is very likely the problem. If it doesn't rattle then it could be your compressor. Check the start device first. it is located directly on the side of the compressor. and is easy to remove and install anoter.

Good day James. There must be a loose cable for the green light to come on. Your thermostat might need replacement especially if doesn't go on defost which happens automatically.
