The setting and password are stored in two files on the internal flashdrive. To reset the device, the two file have to be deleteted or renamed. The Canon ScanFront 220 has a more or less normal PC mainbord with AMI-Bios.To boot from a USB-Stick, connect a keyboard and press del while starting. You get access to the bios settings. Change the boot order to USB-hdd.As a bootable USB-stick, I used an old 4GB stick, formated with fat32, made it bootable with
https://rufus.ie/ and
https://www.freedos.org/. I also copied norton commander on the stick for comfort.Boot Freedos. To navigate you will need the commands d:, cd, dir and rename.Drive D: is now the internal Flash drive. Enter the DOCUMENT folder and rename/delete the file system.hv and in the folder DEFAULT the file user.hv.Remove USB-stick and reboot.Change the boot order back to hdd.Done. When rebooting in the internal system, the first step is to calibrate the touchscreen.Have fun.Edit: to rejuvenate the rubber wheels, soake them in alcohol.
