Cuisinart Food Mixers - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support
We have a Cuisinart Hand
Cuisinart hand mixers are not repairable. You can buy replacement accessories like beaters, but you can't buy any internal replacement parts.
I have a Cuisinart HM-70 and I stripped the plastic gears inside by trying to mix a really thick dough. It was easy to open and get to the plastic gears. When I called Cuisinart to try to get replacement gears, they said that they don't sell replacement parts and their hand mixers are not repairable. I looked all over the internet and no one sells internal parts.
Unless your mixer is still under warranty, I believe that you're out of luck and your mixer is headed to the electronics recycle pile.
Most handmixers today are sold with plastic gears - including high end brands like Viking. For me the lesson learned is to buy low end hand mixers (don't buy a top of the line 9 speed mixer) and treat them like they're disposable when they break.

Gears inside are probably broken, I have 3 of them to do this (i use them commercially) and decided to open one up to see and the gears were broken and stripped. So far I have not been apple l able to find any replacement parts.
Stopped working, smoke came out
Did anyone ever answer your question? You should be able to call them. I'm in Canada and the number here is 1-800-472-7606. But you should be able to find a customer service phone in the US by going to their website.
Dough hook stuck
I just got my dough hook unstuck! The problem was the bolt at the top of the dough hook. This bolt is used to adjust the height of the dough hook. This bolt came loose while mixing and went up towards the mixer. The force of the spinning actually tightened this bolt against the mixer so when I tried to release the dough hook by lifting and turning, it wouldn't lift. The bolt was in the way! The solution is to loosen this bolt. You'll need a thin wrench that's about 15 mm. You can test loosening this bolt on the other attachments since they loosen in the same manner. You'll have to bend the white shield down slightly to get the wrench in there. It's a tight squeeze even with a thin wrench. Hold on to the lower end of the dough hook and turn the wrench counterclockwise when looking down at it. Once you loosen the bolt, you'll be able to turn the lower portion of the dough hook to lower it. Then you can lower the bolt further. Once you have them low enough, you can remove the dough hook like normal - lift and turn. Sure beats boxing it up, shipping it for repair and paying for shipping both ways!
Variable speed Cuisinart stand mixer will start and stop when turning the speed dial
I would take a swag at it and guess that the speed control has a variable capacitor consisting of a circular plate and wiper. The plate is a series of contact points that switch the speed control into the circuit. You are missing some of the contact points in the middle of the switching cycle or the wiper is not making contact at that part. You would have to replace the speed control part, but finding the part would not be easy and repairing it was not anticipated due to obsolete thinking on the design of the product.
Cuisinart Powerblend Duet mixer motor hums and does not spin the drive. What is likely problem and can it be repaired?
Ken:
most small AC motors require a starting capacitor, where it ups the power on one of the field magnets that give an initial spin to the armature. Since the 120 volts are equally dispersed over the field windings. If this capacitor is missing or shorted the motor will just hum and not rotate. This capacitor or its equivalent is mounted on a small circuit board somewhere encased in the base of the blender.Unless you are a skillful technician and can trouble shoot the failings and be able to get a replacement part, you would have to pay someone else to repair it, that is if you could find someone who repairs small applainces, and it would cost you much, more than the 100 bucks you paid for the blender.
