Not sure what the cause is. You can factory reset the tablet usually by pressing and holding the volume "UP" key and the power key together. When a menu appears, use the volume keys to select menu item.

From what I know, you cant get a replacement touchscreen. So you might just have to buy a new tablet.

look on the back of the tablet, and you should see a little hole that you put a paper clip end into it or a pin of something. Then it should factory reset it.

Delete cache, photos and videos, and maybe that will help a bit.

Hold down on&off &volume at the same time and wait for reboot to show them use volume to set set the reboot line! Hope it helps?

Kindle Fire 2011 1st generation, but to double check it open the settings and see if it runs 2.3 or 4.0 operating system. If 2.3 it's a first generation.
