The carbon brushes in the motor need replacing or you have a short circuit. Return it under warranty.

Dyson V6 Animal keeps start and stopping.

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson. Your Dyson V6 vacuum is designed to make a pulsing noise to warn you when something is preventing airflow from passing through the machine. This could be a blockage in the motorised floor tool, wand or bin inlet. It's also a good idea to check the bin inlet flap can open and close freely, and isn't jammed in place. Our video support guide will walk you through the simple troubleshooting checks: I'm confident that removing any blockages and checking the bin inlet flap will resolve the issue with your machine. But if you would like any further help, just give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call on 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) 1800 239 766 (AU), or 0800 298 0298 (UK).

Brush on a Dyson DC35 stops rotating. I cleared it of any debris, cleaned off the roller, no obstructions in the tube, and it kept doing it.

I have twice had this intermittent problem of the spinning brush in the Dyson DC35 motorised head starting then stopping after a few seconds, and in both cases it was because of hair getting into the machinery behind the cog that drives the brush bar. It's fairly easy to fix (the only specialised tool required is a small torx-head screwdriver), and I wrote an illustrated step-by-step guide at: http://cusack.eu/2020/12/28/how-to-fix-the-motorised-head-of-a-dyson-dc35-handheld-hoover-that-spins-and-then-stops-while-watching-football/

Empty hatch on canister will not open

Sometimes on mine, the red clip that's at bottom of canister doesn't always click back into place, so when you press the red button, it just slides out missing the catch. How i resolve this i pressed down the red button so the clip was sticking out, then with my thumb pressed it in, and it clicked back into place, now been fine with each empty.

Burning plastic smell when using

HI, Thanks for contacting the FixYa team.

1. Plastic Burning Smell - This means that there is friction in a plastic part of your Dyson. The only place this will be coming from is the BrushBar. The brushbar has jammed somehow. The smell arises as the rubber belt is still trying to turn the plastic brushbar but the brushbar is not moving. To solve the problem you will need to unscrew the soleplate using a 2 pence piece, this is done by inserting the 2 pence piece into the 3 plastic screws on the underneath of the Dyson. Turn the screws a quarter anticlockwise. You can then remove the soleplate. You will probably see that there is a build up of debris by the brushbar. This is more common on The Animal version as pet hair mixed with dust gets stuck in here, especially if the machine has been used on a damp or wet surface. So clean this area out and then try manually rotating the brush bar in each direction. If you have been using the machine for too long with the burning smell then it is likely that your brushbar will be melted where the belt attaches to it. If this is the case then you will need to get a new brushbar. If the brushbar is not too damaged check that the belt has not broken. If the belt has not broken then replace the soleplate. Turn the screws a quarter in a clockwise direction. Should your belt be broken then please re-post and we will show you how to sort this. Thank you

I have a dyson hand held that shuts off after just

yeap..... i just found a fix for this ,, its mad how easy it is to fix as well...and it works 100%,,,
now dyson implemented a filter magnetic switch if u take your filter off you will see a small magnet in the corner,, u will notice where the magnet is behind it is rased platic,, now,,that the problem on the main board the transistor that picks up magentic signal from the filter is dud,!
dont ask me why it happens,, its a pain i know.,.
now take off collection pot for dust now take battery off.

now where the serial number is theres 2 hex screws that need taking out..

now u will see a small pcb board.. remove with one tiny security screw holding it in,, once removed pull both red plug off thats the digital motor plug.. and white plug which is vcc..to battery,, once u have done this pull the board down and back gently. as there is a long bit of board that goes up the back of the dyson plastic be very carefull pull this out.. now the long and thin pcb board that is hidden is what we need there is a tiny transistor,,, we need to remove this carefully..once removed,, we solder a thin wire from 2 point A+C need to be soldered together with a thin piece of wire, it will not harm the motor.. as long as u keep it clean,,

these points corolate to the transistor,,

A

B C

SOLDER AND A+C WITH A FINE PIECE OF WIRE NOW,, AND WALLAH... fixed put it all back together again,,, charge the battery,, and your away,,, working again,, if not u have other faults.. but 99% fix this with flashing red led,,,!!

My Dyson DC35 does not turn the brush head when on the floor. It works fine when in the air. I have removed and cleaned all movable parts but still no joy. Any help would be gratefully received.

my guess bad belts inside or worse. it needs service , some have clutches that go bad. i see no free service manuals on it, so ask them? clean the whole vacuum , end to end, first. inside. then check for bad or worn sticking parts to the drive head. or just find a shop to fix it. (any can)

How to replace upright switch on a dyson ball up13

Dyson will supply parts but don't provide manuals to their appliances (in the UK) but provide a fixed price repair service at a price they consider reasonable (I don't). Dyson vacs are designed to manufacture as cheaply as possible, they aren't designed for easy repair or replacement of components. I haven't much experience of Dyson but the little I do have has taught me patience and a devious mind are prime requisites to dismantle...

Front won't stay down on carpet.

Something is keeping the head from rotating freely. You will have to inspect all the parts closely to determine what is causing it to bind. It may be a part dislocated or have some debris somewhere.

Stiff hose on new Dyson Animal upright

Actually the hose is fine, but you really need to break it in... Dyson should have a robot at the factory break in the new hoses before shipping them with the new vacuums. I just got my first Dyson and it's an Ball Animal 2. Anyhow, I noticed immediately the new tube on the new vacuum was incredibly stiff. To the point that making use of the wand and attachments becomes a complete frustration.

Such an experience is not uncommon because engineers rarely dog food their own creation out of the box... Anyhow...

I had to stretch and massage my new hose aggressively for 20 minutes to get it to the point the vacuum wouldn't just flop over when I pulled it out. With the vacuum off I pinned it on the corner of the couch and maxed the hose out. Sitting 12 feet away watching TV I stretched and relaxed the hose over and over, pulling the full length a little harder every time. After 10 minutes of that I sat next to the vacuum and starting at the base of the hose, I aggressively stretched 3" of collapsed hose out to 12" with all my strength about 5 times like an accordion, over and over, before moving up to the next bit of hose. Repeat this workout the length of the hose. Now, I'm 6'6" and strong for a strong man, by the time I finished, the hose worked as seen in the marketing footage.

Happy hose stretching...

My dyson DC 39 triggerhead brush not spinning.

The brush is activated by the suction of the vacuum. If it stops spinning, that means that either there is a broken part inside housing that surrounds the brush, thereby lessening the power of the suction to spin the brush, OR there is a lot of debris, usually hair, trapped and tangled around the brush. That can cause a troubling amount of friction and cause it to stop spinning. Either way, you will need an Allen wrench set to open up the trigger head. I found this video on youtube which details how to do that. It's not my video, but it is helpful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwNDO3pUxzM
