The listings on 3rd party batteries like at NewEgg ( HQRP Battery for Dyson DC31 DC34 DC35 DC44 DC45 DC56 Series plus HQRP... ), Ebay ( NEW DYSON DC44 DC45 VACUUM Battery Type 2000Mah CORDLESS DC34 DC35 4402B ), and others lump the battery for the DC44 and DC45 together, so you're probably fine. You may want to take the battery to a Batteries Plus or such - sometimes a battery will show voltage just fine, but choke once there's a load on it. I would try the filter first. The filter on your unit should be replaced at least once a year, more often if it gets used a lot or in a very dusty or dirty environment. If the filter is clogged air cannot pass through it just as if you laid a piece of plastic over it which can cause it to blow off.

Just took my Dyson in and yes my HEPA needed changing. It's under the right wheel (as you're looking at the machine); you can see it through the "vents" above the wheel. The screw is on the bottom of machine.

You will probably need a Torx (star) 15 screwdriver -- that's what Dyson seems to use everywhere.

Since the brushroll motor works it seems you are getting power so the most likely cause is a loose connection or bad wire to the motor or the motor is bad and needs replaced.

It sounds like an electrical problem to me. A wire maybe be frayed or partially disconnected, and therefore, is cutting out the power when it's no longer making contact. Unfortunately, it sounds like you may need to bring it in for repair or call an electrician friend who may find the problem.

There is a motor just for the beater bar, and a belt that connects the motor to the beater bar...either your motor is bad or your belt is broken

I had a similar issue. I called Dyson. Hey why not, the number is right on the from of the machine. SO IS the beater bar on/off button, right next to the big red on/off switch. It does have a safety off when something jams the bar from rotating so the motor doesn't burn out. I also removed my sock and on restarting the thing, the beater bar would motor was not turning on. I thought the reset would be inside but no, it is right outside in plain view, which I didn't see either. It is a grey button opposite the big red on/off switch. Boy did I feel dumb after that phone call!

If it's only 2 weeks old, you could have a defective either charging system or just a bad battery. Most places offer free replacement within 30 days of purchase. I would take it back to your place of original purchase. I hope that helps!

There are a couple of reasons you could be having this issue. First, I would first suggest checking your brushroll and removing any hair or fibers wrapped around it. Second, check airflow and filters. remove hoses and rid them of any debris that may be trapped inside. Also, vacuum bags that are more than half way full will cause your machines suction to dramatically reduce. Thirdly, check to see if your machine is on the right setting. Some machines have a bare floor and carpet setting. Using the wrong setting will keep your vacuum from properly doing its job. Lastly, it may be a motor issue. If this is the case, I would suggest consulting with your local technician.

Battery packs on Dyson V6 models are usually good for about 3-4 years. If yours is not holding a charge, I would first suggest replacing the battery pack. Also, I do not see any reason as to why not using it often would affect the battery life since these models are made to be able to stay on the charger for long periods of time without damaging the battery itself. If replacing the battery doesn't help, I suggest consulting with a technician. I hope this helps.

They just pull out on each end. The shaft goes all the way from one end cap to the other.

The latch might be clogged with dirt or gunk

There is a lever on the back of the vacuum you can turn to allow the filter to come out.

If it has good suction but won't pick up dirt off the floor it probably needs the belts or clutch replaced.
