The gears spinning the beaters unit must be worn out.Take it apart and check the gear that turns the shaft that the beater fits into.Its just a metal tube (about 2 inches long) hooked to the middle of a black plastic gear ( about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. ).Check this gears.If the gears are out of alignment then it needs to be realigned .Try to manually spin the beater by hand.

Before you start to disassemble the unit, turn each beater and see if there is any play in them. Neither should turn without turning the motor shaft. I think you will find that one or both is turning independent of the other beater. One should not turn without turning the other and the motor shaft.
The beaters slide into plastic gears and the gears are turned by the metal gear on the armature. Usually the metal gear will strip one or both of the plastic gears when too much pressure is placed on them. This is a safety issue. If you would get a hand caught in the beaters, the plastic will strip and save your fingers. This is all good except that the plastic gears worn out as they are very soft. Then when too much pressure is placed on the beaters the gears strip.--------Getting parts for this mixture is not very easy.you will have to try local mixer repair service center.The original parts are very difficult to get,but you can get near to same parts from local mixer and electrical appliance parts repair store in your area.------------ The parts are difficult to get because Farberware never made a mixer. They bought their mixers from outside vendors such as Sunbeam or Hamilton Beach and stamped their name on it. The American Farberware Co. sold out to a company from China about 10 years and ever since they do not make any parts for any of their appliances. --------------This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Question moved from Cars and Trucks. Stand Mixers don't normally have belts and I don't believe this one does as I can't find spare belts. They are operated by nylon cogs that run in grease. The most likely reason is the she shear pin has sheared. This is a small pin like a nail that goes through a cog or shaft and shears if too much load is put on the mixer beater or dough hook. You will need to get a qualified electronics technician to look at it. The issue could be anywhere on the circuit boards inside the mixer. Unless you know what you are doing don't try to repair it yourself as you could make the problem worse.

Spray some WD40 into the eject button. The wait 10 minutes and turn it upside down and spray WD40 down the side of the beaters Leave 10 minutes and try again/ If that doesn't work, you will need full disassembly ..

Push the head down before pressing the button on the mystery mixer. There is probably dough under the hook with it pressing the head up and is locking the catch. You can pull out the dough around the dough hook to make it easier. All questions need 'make model (what it is)', first 3 words please

The only thing we know it that is made by Sunbeam and it MAY be a food mixer because that is the category it is posted to. Look at what is there already. It is black and greasy, it will be GP Graphite Grease. If it is white and greasy, you can use white Lithium grease in spray or tube. If it looks like normal oil, use 3 in One. Could be anything, but could be the switch, the electronics board, motor windings, the carbon brushes or worn insulation somewhere. Odd that the plug fuse didn't blow. It needs electrical diagnosis to find out what went wrong.
