G.e x500 usb driver

You don't need a driver. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

What is the driver, trying to use my GE camera with my laptop, it says after driver is installed I should be able to retrieve photos

The driver is the software which enables the laptop to communicate with the camera. It will have been installed when you installed the software from the CD which came with the camera.

What does write protect mean?

"Write Protect" means that something is locked and your device (camera) cannot "write" to it's storage area.
What type of "storage media" are you using?
For example:  the camera's internal memory, a CompactFlash card, a Memory Stick, an "xD-Picture Card" (micro, mini or regular sized), or a Secure Digital/MultiMediaCard.
[Did you put something  (a small plastic card of some sort) into a slot on the camera before or after turning it on?
Those little cards usually have a tiny button (also called a switch or lever) on them that will move back and forth to lock (write protect) or unlock it. This sounds like the memory card inside your camera is locked or "Write Protected.

To fix this simply take it out, closely examine the memory for the button- the button will be closer to the word "lock" or "protect" and all you need to do is gently slide it in the opposite direction from where it currently is. Put it back into the camera and see if it still says "Write Protect."

Let me know...

GE x600 camera buttons stop working after taking 1 picture. Any suggestions of what could be wrong?

Hi Please try these suggestions: 1. Check all the buttons to ensure they are free moving. If a small piece of dirt gets stuck behind one of the buttons and keeps the button depressed, the camera will often not work properly. 2. Format the memory card. The memory card could be faulty, so try reformatting it (preferably in a card reader attached to a computer). 3. When you say the camera stops working, if the power shuts down it may indicate the battery is faulty and needs to be replaced. We hope this helps to resolve your problem

MY GE CAMERS SLIDE ON OFF SWITCH VERY STIFF HARD TO OPERATE

With use over time it should be easier. It is probably stiff to avoid inadvertently turning off during usr. You could use compressed air on the switch in case any dirt got in there but likely just way it is made.

GE E1410SW camera. How can I change the default so the camera flash is in Forced Off mode every time the camera is turned on?

Have you installed the latest Firmware from GE online? If you have, are you certain you are not shooting in some Automatic mode that allows the camera to choose its own setting? If you are in FULL MANUAL mode, and you have the very latest Firmware installed, if you are in Flash OFF setting when you turn the camera OFF then it will return to Flash OFF when the camera is turned ON again.

To replace lens on a ge x 500

Unfortunately the lens is not easy to replace on this camera. It would be classed as a spare part. As GE have closed their camera division, you will struggle to find the part and even if you did, it may cost you more than a new camera.

"card is not formatted"? GE J1458 W camera. What does that mean please?

https://www.apotelyt.com/photo-memory/sd-card-formatting you may need to format the card with a lower file type. It might be ntfs and the camera might use fat32 file type formatting is like setting up a library you put in the isles and then you number the isles in order so you know where to put the books in correct order so you can retrieve the book later. The same basic principle is used for data storage in that you setup the file storage environment on the card so you can store and retrieve data when you need to.

MY GE X5 takes pic and I can view these, when I switch the camera off they are not there when I switch it on. It shows in the counter they have been taken but cant play back the file where are they?

The X5 works with SD and SDHC cards, which max out at 2GB and 32GB, respectively. It will not work with SDXC cards such as yours.
