I know this is an old post but in case anyone else has trouble with it...I just replaced this keypad for the 2nd time in 10 years, it just stops working after years of being exposed to the elements. I've changed the code several times but had a lot of trouble with it today in the new one. What finally worked for me when following the instructions to set the switch to "Set" inside the black box, type in your new code and then press and HOLD the star key for at least 5 seconds. Holding the star key down finally worked after multiple attempts to get it to work. Then set the switch in the black box to "Run" and the door should open after typing in your code and hitting *.

Swapping the sensors is only a temporary fix. As they get old, they get dirty lenses And/or the ir becomes weaker. The sun only adds to the problem. I suggest replacing the saftey sensors.

No rail wont fit quite right. I would consider a liftmaster/craftsman/chaimberlain with yellow antenna wire. The liftmaster models are 8355 or 8550. Not sure how those model #'s translate to the craftsmans and chaimberlains. These units use 3 frequencies which are chosen automatically by opener radio. This gives you the best option to avoid interference. Genie typalically uses 2, but their fixed, so its a crapshoot to avoid interference. Do not confuse these frequencies with the rolling code feature which is a static frequency with only the "channels" changing.

If the alignment is true and rollers move with ease, you should not have any jerking motion. Unlock the door catch from the pulley line of the motor. The door should be FREE to lift by hand. With the door Free of the motor/line-pulley, lift by hand. Do so a number of times and see if it binds or is free to move up and down easily. If it binds, the alignment is off and needs adjustment. If it moves quite well, then the problem can be the door sensors. These are the two face to face sensing devices at the bottom of the metal guides on both sides. These sensors need to be horizontal and fixed to allow Line Of Site to operate correctly. Check both Alignments, Rails and Sensors.

This is most likely caused by radio interference. Try to re-learn the remotes to see if it will correct the problem.

are you sure that it doesn't just stay on for 30 seconds to one minute and then shut off? if it stays on all the time, the light switch has been manually turned on and you need to turn it onto 'automatic'

I had hand ropes to pull door manually at the sides of the door that crossed the path of the safety sensors and caused this. I also had stiction in the door where the sections paint would stick preventing the sections to hinge. Try releasing the thing and moving door manually to insure smooth operation. Also the force sensor may be tripping. To sense this "help" raise the door. Also see if the frame and the pointing of the sensors might distort as door is raised.

Question edited for clarity. This is an older model. Either the weight of the door is borderline for the motor and that is why it is beeping. The counterbalance system need adjusting. Or the carbon brushes on the motor need replacing. You can also try lubricating every single item that moves and the tracks to reduce rolling and sliding resistance. Sounds to me like a cold solder joint on one of the boards

Unlikely your garage door is battery operated. The remote and wall unit yes. The remote just tells the mains operated motor to get turning. Question edited for clarity. Question moved from Cars and Trucks category. Look at the corners of the doors that hold the aluminium frame together and if it is a modular door, tighten them up. If it is a solid door, adjustment can be made by shimming behind the bottom hinge with a piece of cardboard. This will move the bottom out and up. ..
