Hi Frank You have a faulty console most definately.

I know this is way later...only 7 years!!. But these bikes or still around. I know because I just got one...Broke.
1. The Motor is bad... About $90 New....
2.If it turns to Easy... The Belt could be off.

I put my belt on and #1 was hard to pedal. But did get harder with resistance increase which means the motor works! Too G??d!

Before you try removing flywheel look for wear on the outside shrouds covering the fly wheel area and adjust if need be. If you need to remove flywheel you have to remove the arms first before taking off flywheel shrouds to exspose inners this project will take you some time

This happened to me as well. As wierd as this sounds, Rub/Massage all of your console keys well because believe it or not, they get stuck. While unplugged and without the magnetic key "inserted". Plug the machine back in and "insert" the key. Allow the machine to do the full incline and decline sequence if it decides to do so. Once this happens the machine should allow you to work the console buttons without any issues. At least this is how I was able to fix mine while on the phone with the Gold's Gym technical support. Hope it helps.

if you are using the Normal charger AC, try to see if are O.K measure with DMM the output(see the laber for Output voltage VDC) 2) If you are using the Batteries , replace by new ones Type ALKALINE, very important. Clean very well the springs and tight, use electronic cleaner contacts, see if there are some wires loose or desolder. 3) If everything is o.k See for the small motor inside (this regulate the resistance) if working good, or the steel cable is broken, or missing or the motor is faulty, replace or repair. Hi, i strong recommend you. 1) LUBE the bearing of Roller, the noise can be the Bearing of Roller. 2) And after LUBE if , the noise is coming again replace the Roller. 3) However you can test the motor outside by turning by hand. Lube slight the shaft with WD-40 and Run again, if the motor make noise Replace the Ball Bearing, or replace completely the Motor,

You have probably permanently damaged the electronics. Does it work with batteries?
