How do i change the battery in a Gucci 2400 L watch?
Hello Jeneane Blacine,
Beautiful watch...
A picture of the BACK-SIDE would allow me a better GUESS.
I am purely an amateur horologist (all personal opinions)...
Like... a 5x jewelers loupe works fine for battery changing.
I did look for your
battery number.. but found no references.
The American Watch Institute (AWI) produces a book that lists every battery and cross references GLOBAL numbers from the VARIOUS manufactures...
Once I open a watch...
I always write down
THAT WATCH and
Battery NUMBER and keep it with that pamphlet
(about $5 in 1998 - 2000 edition).
I start with an soft bristle brush (tooth brush works fine) & carefully go all over the watch cleaning every crack, joint & crevice... followed by a soft clean cloth to polish the case. Once I am confident nothing will be introduced into the watch... I open the case (table top, good light. jewelers loupe, case cracker , jaxa (style) wrench or jewelers screw-drivers... really nice forceps above a clean floor... (a screw WILL GET AWAY ...a flash light across the surface of the floor... will cast a decent shadow... or (my mother advised me to use of a lady's stocking over the vacuum nozzle also worked (she was a very smart lady)).
Some watches have press in backs... some secure with screws... a lot of round body watches actually have screw in covers...
They are all different (certainly delicate).
After taking a couple of our watches to the PROFESSIONALS
only to see the gouge & scratch the cases... I figured I would scratch much less (& free)... As the decades have passed ... I can get in & out.. just fine.
Acceptable quality tools are available on-line... and a little patience
will make your cases last longer... As for their water "resistance"...
THAT'S A WHOLE other article... Suffice it to say... I do a better jo than the battery guy at the strip mall ...
Better tools produce better work... but it is the skilled touch of a caring hand that guarantees the best results... No mater who they are... everybody needs to start at the beginning.
Good luck...

Second hand movement stopped working
Morning Mike Harris,
Tired battery will do that.
Some watches will cause the second hand to jump a few seconds as the battery get low... I have seen that a few times... typically a NEW battery WILL restore full operation...
After experiencing the PROFESSIONALS... prices & careless handling I purchased a decent set of tools and have NEVER
regretted it.
