what PC, the pc has service tag and a model number there. like DV5-1234us, (crude example) what did it come with what OS?, some HP PCs had 3 choices . from w2000 to VISTA. (OS=op sys) is this a new to you,old PC to you found dead, or you had it running say for years now dead from XP virus and then decide to do the right thing and upgrade it.???? history MATTERS. w7 successful you said why does your post contradict that. ? id say id did not, Installed how, ? (the only 3ways) 1: using the F11 key< HP restore. magic hot key reload? 2: using the correct install disk from HP? media kit. (if above fails) 3: using Microsoft disk? (it will fail, ask why) do not do this. if you use MS disks many HP drivers will be missing and all HP apps and other important features will be missing. the top fail here is the HP laptop key board top panel is dead. the one with volumn up and wifi on/off, will be dead. W7 fails to load. 1: the HDD is bad.... if bad the F11 key restore is dead too. 2: you failed to boot it 3 times after, it loads. FYI if you install w7 there are over 350 updates, that can take days to load, after, do not say yes, to updates as you install or it will fail. no OS stated, no CD stated, but asks... there are vast types of CD disks, not one stated by you what is ? whats on it , what does the label say is it home made CD non of that can we know, and is KEY to the best answer. for autorun to work 4 things must be good. 1: the CD drive shows up in device manager, and be OK. 2: the CD must be good. what is it, not stated by you. yet. 3: the autorun feature turn on via the My computer explorer. 4: the CD must have an autorun file, many dont. so lets forget AUTORUN, (must walk first then run, LOL) first as always it the DRIVE must be pulled in and not bad. 2nd the Device manager must show it as must next it shows, up in Diskmanagment and last must show up in My Computer. or in W10 that is now called. Microshaft changed this name for local explorer 4 times. for kinks. and sux that, having to tell that. sure seen this 1000s of times. and all ways from sunday , you name it ive fix it, even bad media or media from China it this pure trash. lets say the Device manager, shows the drive. what to do next? well that is easy go to walfart and buy a music disk this is called a CD-DA disk. this disk works on all optical drives made. if you see it in MY computer and click it , it will play. music. as designed to do . one other thing to do us load the Probook drivers from HP on the PC, matching what drive you have, mine is a DVD drive, upgraded. and can burn DVD-R. if you have windows install disk put that in, now. you can see files now for the first time if the CD is a DVD and the drive is a DVD drive, you see fails. if the MS orHP disk is DVD and the LT only has CD drive its hopeless. if you have modern drive you can read most files. even MP3., WAV music and watch movies on DVD. if you upgrade to BRD, blue ray drive you can run BR movies. Older cd/dvd drives many not be able to see or run any burned drives, the first ones could not do that. like DVD-r or DVD+r home burned disks. again see if a real store bought music disk works (CD-DA) if that works good move up to more complex disks and test. if not the DVD drive is dead, or the drivers do not match your drive. to match any drive. remove it and read the number on it. it has a tag. so you said all type but do tell if it is a store bought CD first. for music, not a burned disk by you or others. a disc from a store, real, music and not scratched up. got this one? there are many types offered and used, AD-7586H?

these PC are odd ducks, id never buy one, due to there ODD construction, but people do. and fixing it is not easy, but there you have it. try a new power pack? yet. try to find and external VGA jack and use and external screen there? try to get in to BIOS YET< does it work ? screen work like that. the goal now must be get BIOS working first, the booting then windoz. see? the correct name is HP TouchSmart 310-1125f Desktop Computer its more of a laptop stuffed in a Desktop screen. really 6 years old. after adding the Hypen to the p/n HP shows the product support. 310-1125f I only have questions, after all I cant run it and watch it. 1: does the fan run inside. 2: does BIOS work per the manual. 3: can you hear the hard disk spin 4: does the screen ever show text words, like it did when it worked at power on, like" press ESC key to setup Bios" does it. if BIOS is dead, there is NO POWER to the MOBO. work power. this PC has no VGA port, on the rear, so testing any PC lacking this key PORT (or DVI or HDMI) make testing it HARD. the power jack has an LED on the MOBO that glows. does it? I can only be these causes. 1: hdd bad. 2: it's telling you the truth, the restore partition is corrupted, takes way more than simple file names, there. 3: someone used microsoft disks or others, an attempted to install other OS, and wreck this partition structures and files. the cure is same, HP media kit. NO OS stated. what operating system windows, came with W7 new, you skipped the free w10 upgrade? btw i see your PS is infected (for sure) who's update notices, Microsoft or the other millions of APPS. if not MS, then do not allow those to run ever, if you do , and you have 100s of apps, you land in Apps update H3LL avoid all that. (go to msconfig and turn all those startup update engines off,click disable.) if badly infected, as most are this old. what you should do is this.

1. hit F11 at power on boot, and get the recovery system going.
2. or go to HP.com and get the recovery media, kit.

avoid geeks, try real shops , they are NOT. it is overheating and all PCs every made do that, if not serviced ever heard of service? like a car, like oil filters and air cleaner. same here but no filters we clean the vents, and all air paths clean. never use it on a a blanket blocking vents the go to geeks and it works. ok. load program that reports, CPU/GPU heat. see it overheat sure, over 50c is too hot. and needs service or off that blanket. i cant watch you use your LT, so.... only you know what you do. use a desk, or better buy a bottom plate with fans added. I have a fan plate platform that i use on my hotter running I7 LT's if the CPU overheats the CPU will shut itself down , by its self Intel or AMD magic, does that. the BIOS will see it overheat and crank up fan speeds. if the venting system is blocked, there is no HOPE NOW. all PCs must breath, or they overheat, all do.

I would recommend that you go to almico.com and download a program called speedfan. It is free and it tells you the temperatures of things in the computer. The noise you hear could be the cpu overheating.

Old PC AMD Phenom II Processor W7-64 sound? (its was fine at day 1 too, and is not important to the cause unless installed an OS not from HP media.) why not say what you are doing. sound tells us zero.

1. playing wav files.?(wave) "pure audio"
2. playing mp3. or any of 50 other formats. do tell.?
3. using only media player fails. or using vooduu player or boom?
4. only on youtube.
5. only when streaming, say netflix or? 50 choices?
6. playing the system sounds in control panel fails?????
7. speakers and phones both fail, and buds? if yes, its sound card software issues. (i bet)
8. You do know if the system is virus infected this will happen right./ and if the startup folder is full of useless things any processor will overload, for sure this one.

2. can you play wav file locally, yes not.
3. did you reload W7 using the HP hot key F11? reloads w7 to day one, and bingo works. (well , for some audio and some vids)
4. did you reload all drivers. from HP,.? G7-1075dx
5. did you as on the real HP forum and not here, (we are not HP so answers will be wrong most times)
6. are you using USB head phones , now that it has its own sound chips in side that can mess-up the HP drivers badly. so unpug this thing,. learn to use real 2cable mini jack head phones for the HP, chips, or lean to use the sound icon on in the task bar nan tell the system you are not using , internal chips for sound, on my wifes pc we run both, internal and external usb. and must select them at the task bar icon speaker. (its tricky this) do learn that MS and HP do not support those USB phones. at all. means bad things happen. there.
7. Old laptops. G7. HP dropped support on G7.

NO PC stated, nor OS what windows? never put email in a post, unless spam for 1000 years endless is fun. never ever do that;.... when bios cant see it that means the DRIVE IS DEAD. lost power, cable fell off or , 5vdc and 12vdc are not good into said drive from PSU. This is PnP, plug and pray works in the BIOS too, it scans the pCI buses and finds all chips and driver;. hdd, ssd and cd/dvd,BD. i run the same setup but have 4 drives, with zero data on W10, partitions, so if the OS goes belly up, I never lose data. Drive 0 boot SSD drive 1 , 2TB, drive 2, 1 TB drive 3, external eSATA, off line until Backup times. so to boot drive zero or 1, you must tell BIOS which to boot from its just one bit to flip there. not sure what PC that is, here is what to do with a HDD that seems dead.? the full list.....!!!

1. can you hear it spin,? yes/no (yes good)
2. if no its lost 12vdc or is bad.
3. BIOS says its not there, oops, its not talking at all , bad news. is the data cable to it ok? "sata cable" try MOBO alternate sata port yet? be wise to.
4. move any suspect HDD to another PC, works now? see all FILES there? then the bad PC is bad, bad cables bad PSU there...
5. if the HDD makes clicking sounds say so, its bad, or PSU bad.
6. if using and alternate PC to via a disk, look in diskmanager first. and if drive letter missing, change it to X: the look for files there on the X: drive, see? keep in mind some FILES will not be accessible on alt system due to stricter permissions now. IF running windows 10 (are you) say so, it has super tight, permissions now (reason 1, I use it)
