a 2008 built (MFG) PC, Vista is my top guess.(yes?) sure the cause is only 2 things. bad software or bad hardware (the classic computer fact !) so load the drivers from hp.com for your exact PC. there. if fails the HW bad, the pad or the cables to it. in some case the pad may use an internal USB port and that bad. SW or HW. also upgrading any old PC, OS to an OS not supported by HP gets you this too, and more. 2 causes, HW or SW ! (classic PC rules) SW or software drivers for it bad. or HW, hardware, touchpad bad its cables bad. (or loose) related to SW SW , is infected, making it fail. virus, etc.

well that is not easy stripping down the whole LCD panel is not for any NOOB? why do that that at all. just buy a web cam and plug it in USB. end this. I can do it but would never , actually after all the newer webcams are vastly better, just like they are on cell phones. evolution and costs less to get the better cam. as old as 2008 PC !! it is, no spring chicken we say. no OS told at all. came with XP or Vista sure. w7 is 2009(OCT) the web cam to buy needs to support your unstated OS. that means not XP, not VISTA relic cams ever. answer #2 , HP does not sell those part then or now. so all parts, bezel, CAM and cable needs to be found USED on Ebay. the HP partsurfer shows all parts needed if you looked there. HP does have full drivers up to W7-64bit on your support page and if running that (are you) make sure the webcam supports w7, as most do not now or for sure not xp or vista not telling your OS makes help SUPER HARD as xp to w7 has no support now for say USB Devices (none or ending soon or NOW) RIP XP./vista/w7

NOT ONCE DID YOU SAY, W7,8,OR 10 We can not guess your OS, or its upgrade history ever. some of the errors I had, I cured, Not ALL, the security package HP is dead for every(finger prints malarkey) what I did for w10 was to down load all w7 drivers. then on each one (yes tedious,as heck) I installed them all SPxyz123.ext using w10 , compatibility mode w7 to 10. as Microsoft documents fully. if your read that i have list of all drivers for mine that work. just ask. that keyboard is 100% USDA HP custom , totally custom and HP on mine never sent w10 drivers to MS so PnP fails TOO. on mine there are no w8 , or 10 or 11 drivers all ,nor will there ever be any as HP told. all answers me ,USA only period.

hello, Juan we can not see your screen blind in this text box unless you posted it with photo below. what does Regular mean. PCs can show 10million screens even 1 billion servers on earth if screen looks wrong post photo of wrong./ it is that easy. fore sure. I assumed the screen is NOT 100% dead and black. the LCD is LED black lamps so never fails, not HIT. PC is 2010 model, I have 8540w has w7 on it, and w10 fails if loaded. (10% fails) ask how. the PC may have bad HDD. mine all did and put in new SSD and all keep going now for 10 years. still my wild wild guess, is w7 is infected? tell more get more free tests,

hard, very hard, for sure 2 left thumbs and you break the very delicate FFC flat cable connectors find and read the service manual yet, there is one./ I have 8540w and does. most times total dismantlement. 35 screws out. why not ask a shop to do this hard act.

Hey Anon, Download the TeamViewer software both on Windows and Android. On Android you will find it on Play Store and for the Windows, Click the link. Then Launch both. Enter the code you see on your TV (Team Viewer) screen on Windows in your TV screen on Android. Suppose you see the code BHAI, then enter BHAI on your TV software on android and you would be able to control your PC. Remember, TV generates a new code everytime you launch it. Hope you get it. (matters for drivers that work right) ok> learn now (I have 8540w) that it takes 2 HP drivers for all this to work not just ONE. the upper key led strip needs a HP only driver. then the wifi card next. this PC run on XP to W7 only ! if you upgraded to 10 , many things fail in this PC, for a fact. ill not lest them but they well and for sure security features. HP Quick Launch Buttons must be loaded, called input devices catagory or the strip WILL FAIL , so will sound controls and more.

if win10 there is safe mode that turns of fastboot. read that here. when you disable fast boot windows 10 now runs in safemode and boots from, raw files not images. this can cure many W10 OS machines. here is one example of how this works. lets say you have a bad video card driver. then the PC crashes, but the driver bad is in that stinking imgage file ((hiberfil) then the PC boots clean, and you can reload the video drive. I have fastboot off on mine forever, boot speeds do not impress me. 5 seconds is not worth the pain of fastboots. Rule out: Water damage. Rule out, power supply, damage to cord, damage to plug end that fits into the computer power port. Check computers power port for bent female contacts. Battery can also be a problem. Some laptops will not function if the battery has lost charge or is dead. If none of the above, a CPU going bad or hard drive dying, will also cause the computer to fail when energizing. Vest you have a computer technician look this over.

that PC is 6 years old, it is not new, my guess you bought it used, or refurbed (means dusted off) my guess is the main battery is bad, remove it and test with no main battery now, it will run on AC pack endlessly, I do all the time. (expected too) your SSD is ok, it must be windows 10 on it? why post lacking the key facts like this, windows what, (just one I have is Linux) and w10 it loves to scramble the boot files. when things go wrong. the fix was easy is you had asked then, (turn fast boot off) that normal disk must be used right?, you never said.... the windows 10 if it BSOD's then saves (silly no) the image of the OS running in Memory, this magic is called, fast boot. turn off fast boot on that SSD and bingo it works. the other fix for the SSD (amazing 2 fixes. no?_) of 3. is to power on the PC with SSD , and hammer the HP F11 key that is the magical HP recover key that reloads w10. we have 5 HP 8540w in the family here, all with added W10 all with SSD added, all 5 scream . This PC you HAVE, HP supports XP to W10 32 and 64bit, 5 versions there, a fact see HP link. you bought a used PC. my guess, the seller put the SSD there, and now the HP F11 key is dead, the seller put on w10 neat, so that all HP software is missing now. there are 2 problems here, one is maybe bad memory card. when that happens W10 BSODs all do, every one. then W10 OS is corrupted, the fix is here. W10 deleted the F8 key (see how telling what OS this is matters) they changed how to get to SAFE mode, that was your first. step, with any SSD the fails to boot. windows 7? why not first tell us the OS, what words are in the crashed BSOD page. let me guess, Fn+F4 and not F4 the former is turning on the external VGA jack , doing that? i do not have enough facts presented by you to guess. or show tests. tell me: 1: is the RTC coin cell bad? 2: did you upgrade this from w7 to w10 with no support from HP? 3: did you test it with the bad main battery left out first, on AC power only this be like first a 5min job or less, falling off the log easy.? 4: did the external screen work, ? my guess Fn+F4 5: turn off sleep and hibernate in control panel , + power run ok now? with all that off? be super good if yes, now you can use it now, and later fix all the missing HP drivers later. you know , right the driver are a 3 way match !? match HP model. match OS and match the chip not working exactly and these laptops are sold with like over 20 motherboard different chips on them all GPU CPU sound NIC Wifi and ill stop here there is more,, on topic of options now I will tell you what you did wrong. 1: not asking HP for help, sorry Fixya is not HP not in the least. 2: not posting your full service tag data. so the poor help has a clue what you bought new.
